I enjoy a wide variety of music but like most people of my age my head is probably stuck in the 70's. That doesn't mean I don't buy records from theHere and Now. My only hate is that depressingly cheerful music that always has a strummed guitar in the background. 'Why does it always rain on me...la de la...' That sort of thing. Here are some of my favourites... Frank Zappa I've loved this stuff since I was fifteen and just because he's dead doesn't mean I have to stop loving it now. Tom Waits The best songwriter in the world...EVER. Ozric Tentacles The original Space Cadets. Dig out those early albums, use something herbal, then lean back and enjoy. Jim O'Rourke Doyen of the Chicago Post-Rock Movement. His album 'Bad Timing' is a guitar masterpiece. Ojos de Brujo My current obsession. Definitely Spanish but other than that hard to define. Music to lift the spirit. The Tiger Lillies Filth Merchants.
Movies
I love film though I don't like the cinema so much now. There's nothing like people talking and munching nachos to break the mood. Some of my favourites... Once Upon A Time In America Sergio Leone,Robert DeNiro,Ennio Morricone. What more do you need? Amores Perros Devastating. Things To Do In Denver When You Are Dead I was Godzilla and you were Japan Pulp Fiction I could use a little foot massage... Run Lola Run Again... Apocalypse Now Smells like victory The Wild Bunch The best western...EVER.
About me: Hello there. I'm David. Most people I know call me DB.You can too if you like. I'm 53 years old. Wait! I'll try that again. Nope. Didn't work. I'm still 53. It's getting worse. I used to be 52. It only seems like twelve months ago that it was this time last year. I look in the mirror and I hardly recognize myself. I'm getting more chins than the Chinese Phone Book. I think I'm becoming slightly eccentric as I get older. I've developed the affectation of only ever wearing black. I have had my own hairdressing business since 1979. I think it's time to stop now.I'm getting past it. I have been married to Amanda (AKA The Enemy) for 21 years but due to a mixture of illness and fatigue (she was sick and tired of me) we haven't lived together since 1999. She was a trophy wife but unfortunately it wasn't for 1st place. I have two wonderful stepsons. There's Matt (AKA Peo Superstar) (who you can meet down below) and Adam (who is too cool for MySpace). I love 'em both. I like music and film and I play golf but only when it's warm. I hate political correctness, religious intolerance and liver and onions. I find people fascinating so if you want to tell me about yourself I'm all ears.
..
David ive been fine, of course i have room on my bus for you but only if your special needs i dont like the normal kids, and Long Beach is only 70 miles away. hope you have a good day. Karen
Happy Belated B-day David!!! Feliz Cumpleanos a ti!!! I hope you enjoyed yourself on your day. I was watching a documentary on Olie Reed the other day made me think of you lol! Anyway, have a beautiful day. Besos, amelia
DB......MANY HAPPY RETURNS FOR TOMORROW.....Its difficult to know what to put on the old cake, so I thought i'd give you the advantage of permutations.......
Either way.....when the candles are lit.....this may be the aftermath !!.........
That said....have a spiffing birthday and forthcoming celebration this weekend
A "Kappy" Birthday.....sorry that I wont be able to join you....will buy you a beer next time we bump into each other..
Ok then, call me oldfashioned but there is only so much technology I can take.... so applications on these sites are sooo not for me. I can barely keep up with the plain version of myspace these days without adding Mafia games :)....Hope life is great and Liverpool had a great year as the city of culture. Love B xxx
Ok...I am thinking of being a bit adventurous/Emo and getting some poppy red bits put in my hair (maybe just at the front...not sure). It's currently dark brown all over (dyed months ago). I haven't been to a hairdresser since 1998, so I'm out of touch with current happenings. Are we talking big bucks to do this (bearing in mind I am a cheapskate and will go to the cheapest no frills salon available)? Also, will I have to be there hours with my neck bent back into an uncomfortable sink? I mean...are we talking more than an hour to do this? I'm impatient and I hate being manhandled by good looking people (in a hairdressing context anyway...)... Right, enough of the moaning and brain picking...except...would I have your permission to put one of your Fallen Angel montages in my 'cool' album on Facebook? I would of course give you credit and tag you on it...?? Finally → HAPPY BIRTHDAY for tomorrow! You will have to update your 'About Me' section...yay! I've been waiting a year for you to do that!
Okay, enough is enough. I'm sick of all your unfulfilled promises. Where the fuck is my Straw Hat video ? You promised. Regards from Matt the 'sexist' Pig
I purchased my Deaf School CD on eBay - about £6 for a double album...have a look... I got into them purely out of curiosity. I'd read Paul DuNoyer's excellent book about the Liverpool music scene - Wondrous Place - and looked them up on MySpace (yes, they have a page!). One listen of What A Way To End It All and Taxi...I was hooked! I bet you were a regular down Erics weren't you?
I have done the unthinkable and joined Facebook. Properly. I mean I've been there like *a week*! I've uploaded pictures and everything. I've even become selective about who I add. Speaking of which, how do I distinguish you from the other 29398 David Baileys' (note correct use of apostrophe) without wading through hundreds of white pages?!? Any help would be appreciated.
I'm still here as well though. Don't worry. Love the "Wedding" blog. Now that your friend is married off, you need another Zara to poke on Facebook....
Thanks for mailing the funnies! that flying thing was cool.... just as well I wasn't on the wine when I tried it. Have a great weekend and tell Zara there is a food that kills a woman's sex drive!..... It's called 'wedding cake' ! xx
Maybe she should have waited till Autumn to get married.... at least then the photos would have some colour in them instead of this incessant greyness we have had for months
