Minneapolis based Luther the Devil is a 3 piece blues band rooted in the Mississippi Hill Country and Delta blues traditions, that also mixes in elements of punk and rockabilly to create their own unique sound. Since 2006, LTD has been bringing their music to the masses, playing everywhere from cramped corner bars to festivals. Defined by their riff-based grooves, LTDs smoky licks and pulsing rhythms are helping characterize the genre of punk-blues. Fronting the band and on guitar is Dave Levine. The tattooed and toothless Levine is just as likely to be found jamming with other blues players as he is to be nursing a bottle of Beam. His shouts and hollers are a throw back to depression style vocals, as is his bottleneck guitar work. Slapping the upright bass is Grant Wibben and Eric Hanson provides the backbeat. While recording their debut record in October of 2007, LTD brought in the multi-talented Alex Ramsey on lap steel guitar and keys. His rolling piano and slide lines solidified their sound and now he often performs with them live.
