All About Darimar
Darimar Entertainment, L.L.C. is a multi-media independent production and record company in Philadelphia. Co-founded by two young civic-minded artistic males-Darien Marshall and Darius Jones in the fall of 1998. (Incorporated and registered November 19, 2001.) Disturbed by the lack of self-esteem, pride and over all hopelessness among many people in the community, they wanted to make a difference. In essence, their mission was born: Promoting Self-Development, Through Creativity... The Key To Success. They set out on a journey to put together a production company and vision that would focus ..ing people to live their best lives. They are also Associate Members of the Philadelphia Chapter Recording Academy (N.A.R.A.S. - The GRAMMY'S).
Through W.P.E.B 88.1FM Radio (West Philadelphia Educational Broadcast) they have been able to produce two weekly talk shows: It's All About You and Morning Coffee With Darien - two radio venues that deal with uplifting news articles, poetry, music , a guided affirmation, life stories such as single parents faced with challenges, children determined to learn in school despite the odds and a open call-line for people seeking advice on various issues. Lively Interviews with local and prominent people of the community who have overcome many obstacles in order to live a fulfilled life, such as Dr. Shirley Turpin-Paulham a professor at Cheyney State university teaching African American Literature. Naomi B. Campbell (sans the fashion model) but a lovely lady who was the first African American woman to graduate from Georgian Court College of New Jersey. In addition, they, have written and published two children's book entitled, I am Beautiful, I am African, I am Love highlighting the beauty of women- the sequel will highlight MEN. In these delightful books, children are encouraged to love themselves for their diversities, in-hair texture, skin complexions and facial features. Thereby allowing them to concentrate on their dreams.
Darimar has also produced a host of projects for other businesses for instance, volunteered for various charity events such as guest speakers for Senator Shirley Kitchen's Youth Health Fair. They aslo dabbled in acting while at the Freddie Ganno Acting Studios in New Jersey, they were film extras for the independent movie The Father, The Son, commercial improv for Phashion Philadelphia and the Camden, New Jerseys' River Sharks Stadium Baseball Field. Pledge volunteers for WYBE / Philly Live Channel 35, guest speakers for Global Music Direct of New York's '2002' music event at The African American Museum and The Dr. Warren E. Smith Health Agency's Youth Music Lecture.
In highlighting Darimar Records, L.L.C., their fully anticipated grand opening took place Saturday, June 29, 2002 at The Wilma Theater on The Avenue of the Arts (Broad & Spruce Streets), for their 300+ guest including media press and music industry representatives. An outstanding 500+ persons, over theater capacity arrived. Also, many attending were throughout some of the East and West Coasts, Puerto Rico, London and Jamaica. The introduction to Darimar presentation and artist showcase took place after a well planned and impressive cocktail and hors d' oeuvre reception. The success of that wonderful event has assured Darimar Records that growth potential is possible. On Saturday, July 26, 2003, Darimar's long awaited compilation album entitled, DARIAMR RECORDS Presents... was released at The Philadelphia Clef Club of Jazz and Performing Arts on The Avenue of the Arts (Broad & Fitzwater Streets). To kick off that exciting event, the album was commercially released at The Sound of Market Jazz Sound record store on 2nd floor, 15 S. 11th Street, Philadelphia, Pa. Darimar's recording artists on this wonderfully crafted and produced compilation with precise integrated music genres includes: KWEI pronounced KWAY (solo urban R&B/POP male); QUALI*T (R&B soul quartet group male); MAINE TECH (hip-hop rap lyricist male); TRE (soulful R&B vocalist male); KING BARKER (neo soul / spoken word male); appearing courtesy from Serious Creature Music, CASSENDRE XAVIER (singer/songwriter/neo soul guitarist female); also appearing courtesy of Jasmine Jai Productions and former VJ of Urban Xpressions Channel 48, JASMINE JAI (singer/songwriter/urban R&B/POP female).
