Dan McQuinn has been writing and recording music since he was very young. A multi-instrumentalist, he enjoys creating songs and musical landscapes that reflect his abilities with different styles, feelings, and tones.
Dan's musical credits have included many local bands, most notably being the drummer with former MCA recording artist July For Kings. After the disbanding of JFK, Dan returned to the studio with former JFK members Joe Hedges and T Miller with Los Angeles producer, Blumpy, on Joe Hedges' first solo full length album, CURVATURE. He spent two years touring with Joe Hedges, along with T Miller and bassist Brian Ives.
After touring with the CURVATURE record, July For Kings decided to reunite. Dan has returned to the studio with July For Kings, working on a new record, featuring bandmates Joe Hedges, T Miller, and Drew Phillips. "The record is a revival. A revival of the band and of our musical interests. We decided to go out and make something really fun and exciting. Something you can listen to every track and enjoy yourself," Dan says about the album. Once the record is completed, Dan and July For Kings plan to return to the road to promote the new record, tentatively entitled, "Revival".
Any idea what time you are going on at the HiFi in Lakewood? I know Becky and I would love to come out, and possibly kick some ass in pool (we've been practicing lol), but I also have a wedding to go to that night, so I was hoping you were going on late. Let me know!
Yikes. That's a seriously uncomfortable conversation.
You know what's weird? There are a LOT of people on Youtube claiming to be the drummer in various JFK/Joe Hedges videos....like, sixteen year old kids that play soccer. Who DOES that, seriously?
I want you to know that the last day I called you I flew to Berlin with f'ing Wyclef Jean. So cool! He was so freaking nice, gave me the # to his blackberry and email. I'm so gonna hit up da club with Wyclef..... are you ever coming to NYC?!? Ever? Dan...ever? Hehe, love ya buddy.
When you text me at 7am I woke up...sort of...lol But man oh man I thought my night was long...I thought you guys would be about an hour behind. Hope you got home without a hitch!
Thanks again for making my day seriously...a lot brighter.
I got pulled over on a backroad but yea I actually was driving on the highways and such. Actually, I asked my friend Tyler if he'd be willing to go to the show on Friday and he said yes...so I may go to HiFi...but he is known to bail :( but with all hopes I might be driving to the show.
So I'm a little bit of a whole lot late, but Happy Belated Birthday. I just recalled that it was your birthday last week. Oops. Hope it was a good one!
