Influences
Old-Time string bands, all the great delta-blues singers, Irish, Scottish and Welsh and English Ballads, the music that came out of the folk revival of the 50s and 60s. Sir Francis Child and all the other collectors of folk music, Anyone I have ever had the chance to play with, and any recording I have ever gotten a song off of.
Sounds Like
A drunken frog off galavanting with his mates while strumming an out of tune banjo and croaking off key mixed with a cat undergoing a particularily painful death that involves a funnel and a slice of cold vegitarian pizza.
Dan Henshall is a member in good standing of the London Irish Folk Club, a regular at the pub sessions at Chaucer's, a fledgling activist, and a cult icon at South Secondary, his current high school. Reviews of Dan's live performances include; "you made my life", "Even my mum clapped along, and she never claps", "I laughed so hard I cried", and the perpetually ego-boosting "wow, you are getting better". Weaving together an enchanting mix of Irish fiddle tunes, English ballads, American gospels, and charming original material, along with ripping mandolin virtuosity, and an under-developed sense of humour Dan puts on a throughly entertaining live show. If you like acoustic folk music, or even if you don't like music at all, Dan Henshall is the guy to check out, and is apparently not above shameless self-promotion.
Thanks for your friendship! Please send us any music or other entertainment that you would like to see featured on the RED BANANA, and keep checking back to our webzine for updates!!!

Sorry it's taken me sooooo long to get back to you. I'm in the process of moving (ahhhh) getting ready to go into the studio (yayyyy). I would love to get together and jam with you. I just saw Pete Seeger last night, which was absolutely mind blowing, but it has definitely put me in the jamming mood. What’s been going on in your world?? Anything fun to report?? Peace and Love, Taylor
Dan, sorry for the late reply. I wanted you to check out what I do with my music. My target audience is schools. I have attached the banner...just click on it. Have a great week, Sara
Nice to hear from you. Yes, I just read the listing in Scene. I will definitely come, since the apk is so darn close to my house. I have no excuse not to and many good reasons to come and enjoy some good tunes! See ya!
Hi Dan! It was so great having you on "For The Folk" a while back.. so fun! Me & The Goin' Concern have a little rehearsal happenin' on Sunday, maybe afterwards we'll mosey down to your APK show!

I was accepted to the school in Australia!!! Thus, I will be on the other side of the world in the beginning of august! I asked if they would let me come two weeks later than the start of school so that I could attend my broès wedding, as well as play Hillside, and they said yes to that as well!!! WOOHOO!!!
You will perhaps hear some accordion from me at Hillside.... otherwise, I will just play it for you sometime....
I got to go an start on some home work! peace! nabi
Hey! How's the weather over there? I just want to let you know that i'm coming to London in late May/early June to play bass with Kevin Montgomery and Tommy Allsup. Tommy played guitar with Buddy Holly, and is THE guy that flipped the coin with Ritchie Valens.....would love to see you at a show? I figured with you being a musician you could appreciate this show. We play the Half Moon Putney. I hope you can come down?
Take care!

Hey Dan, London music club was amazing. Many thanks for setting up such a fun night! It was great to see you again. I've got my fingers crossed that you get an OCFF showcase...I can already picture the crazy party. Hopefully I'll see you on the festival circuit, but if not, eternal smiles, peace, and love. Taylor
Dan! hello! Thank you so much for hooking us all up with that fun gig. I will most likely be going to the Ottawa OCFF, but I will for sure be at Hillside. And I'll probably see you at both! Until next time,
I hope you have an excellent holiday break as well, but I can't put that into sweet words like you can. It's the thought that counts though. You're great!
