DALI - BIOGRAPHY
Described by Hotpress as a ‘folkier tighter Sonic Youth’, Dali combine a sound-scape of gritty, melodic, soulful indie rock with a ‘voice of remarkable sweetness’. The female lead four piece from Thomastown love to play live and are having a busy 2008 so far. Performances with Gavin Glass at Electric Avenue along with their own headline at The Dome Bar, WIT in Waterford on the 18th and 22nd of January will see Dali continue their form supporting the excellent Boss Volenti on the 25th January at Murphys Bar, Thomastown, where they will also co-headline with Dublin four-piece Hoarsebox on the 15th Feb.
Having launched their debut EP ‘27’ last summer Dali successfully secured a slot at the Hard Working Class Heroes festival ’07 widely regarded the most telling barometer of the nations up and coming talent. This proved a great opportunity for the band to raise their profile and make some new fans. Encouraged by reactions, Dali swiftly returned to the studio with original collaborator, producer Leo Pearson, where they put down another four tracks. The new single ‘Think Before You Think’ has been enjoying some generous airplay on BeatFM recently and with a video for it in the making also, some more new tracks in stock and a fist full of gigs, Dali have made a start, as they mean to go on.

“….at concerts like this it is natural to expect an increasingly high standard as the evening progresses. The more established bands, further up the bill, tend to have a little more confidence and experience than their predecessors. But for every rule there is an exception. Tonight, the lower ranked artists are the ones who shine. Opening act Dali are breezy and accomplished, often resembling a folkier tighter Sonic Youth. The groups slim catalogue of songs is consistently melodic, and their female lead singer possesses a voice of remarkable sweetness.”
