That's really what I'm about, that's the type of artist I am".

******DAYS ARE LONGER - BIOGRAPHY ENGLISH******
More than a gathering of new and prestigious artists, the goal of “Days Are Longer” is to go beyond the production of a simple collector disc. Full One , who conceived and produced the project made a point of exceeding the tendencies of the music industry by creating a universe which is as much ethical as it is musical. Doesn't the very essence of Hip Hop preach surpassing oneself? This work was based upon this ideology after several months of studying, listening, and questioning.
One could consider “Days Are Longer” as a necessary reminder for the Hip Hop movement, but the lyrical regrouping goes far beyond that: it aims to make it clear that even in the full explosion of the “rap” trend it is essential not to forget the values which pushed us to become a Dj, Mc, B-Boy or Graffiti artist. The commitment has one goal and it is clearly defined: to put meaning in its texts, to represent and be honest with the projected public image.
In order to make the concept relate to it's participants, the artists had the responsibility to be as authentic as possible. And what better to represent the authenticity of Hip Hop itself than the activists who were there at the very start?
Scorpio, living legend and member of the group Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five , is at the origin of one of the first traces of political commitment known on record. Right from the start, in 1982, his crew had impressed minds with “The Message”, recognized by many as the first title denouncing the traps of society and the state of emergency of certain districts; an anthem of meaning and involvement.
These same values drive the participation of Masta Ace , who explains in his video interview that the subject really struck personaly: “That's really what I'm about, that's the type of artist I am”. Less than one generation behind Scorpio, the MC is a legend “Juice Crew” member (Marley Marl, Mc Shan, Roxanne Shante, Biz Markie, etc) and the author of albums who left a mark on the minds of many hip-hop fans: “Sittin' on chrome” and more recently “A Long Hot Summer”.
Sark, weaves a tapestry of sound where the traditional colours are enhanced by his mastery of variations. A “boom bap” beat to which the west coast rapper Main Flow has the pleasure of rebounding in sixteen measures and then a fall of BPM leaving room for all the technicality of King Solomon 's flow. An innovation supported by the scratches of DJ Grazzhoppa who maintain all the freshness of an almost eight minute “exercise”.
The project is however not limited to one culture, one language, or with only one vision of Hip Hop. The experience, the texts and the maturity of Akhenaton and Rockin' Squat , bring to the title the best of the two largest schools of the French rhyme – an exceptional combination which had not happened since “11' 30”, a classic of French Hip Hop released in 1997… almost ten years ago…
To conclude, “Days Are Longer” is a disc developed in total autarky, independent of any current trend, an intrinsic universe spared from artistic or mercantile pressures. A melting-pot of cultures, experiences and personalities brought together by a common vision – dedication to Hip Hop.
