You are the hidden vampire. You conceal your existance well, and only reveal your true nature when you are about to feed. You are very quiet and tend to shy away from any contact, mortal or immortal. You prefer to be alone, and can often lash out at those that try to get close to you. On the rare occasion that you actually let someone in and befriend them, you stick with that person no matter what and become extremely protective of them. You prefer to hunt the humans that seem to be alone and won't be missed, thus protecting your identity. You never kill for sport because that would simply draw too much attention to you. ~How you were turned~You brought your knees up to your chest to keep yourself warm from the frigid December air. You sat as far as possible from the throng of people moving along the sidewalk doing their Christmas shopping. Your eyes teared up slightly as you thought of all the kids your age that would be getting gifts from their parents, the parents that loved them and would never abandon them like your parents had. You had been alone on the streets since you had been 11 years old, abandoned by your parents and 8 other younger siblings as another mouth to feed. You had barely made it by at first, but you got by. Now at age 16 you knew all of the streets by heart and all the best places to find food. You were too busy convincing yourself that you were better off without loved ones, as you had been since you had been left on the streets, to notice someone approaching you.Finally hearing the footsteps coming towards you, your eyes snapped up and locked on the person coming towards you. You put on your best tough look and opened our mouth to tell the stranger to beat it when she interrupted you by asking "Aren't you cold sitting there?" Glaring, you refused to answer her, instead looking away. Chuckling, she knealed down in front of you, gently grabbing your chin and forcing you to look into her emerald green eyes. She seemed to be studying you for some reason, and you didn't like it. "What do you want?" you spat, putting as much menace in your voice as possible, hoping that she would get the message that you didn't want her around. A frown creased the woman's perfect features as she continued gazing into your eyes, completely ignoring your question. "You don't have any family do you?" she asked, her voice sad. For some reason, you couldn't stop yourself from answering, "No, they abandoned me." The woman's frown deepened, and she dropped her hand. You were confused as to why someone would care at all for you, a homeless nobody, and why anybody would feel any sadness for you. Unexpectedly, the woman pulled you into a hug, holding you to her tightly. Shocked at first, you remained frozen in her arms, but slowly you began to hug her back.Soon you were clinging to her, tears streaking down your face. She was stroking your hair like any mother would to console her child, murmuring comforting words to you. As your tears slowed, you felt her move your hair from your neck, whispering quietly "I'm sorry..." Confused, you tried to pull away and ask her why, but you froze when you felt cold razor sharp needles puncture your neck. There was a slight pain as you felt them sink into your neck, but soon it was followed by an excruciating pain causing you to faint.Waking later, you found yourself laying in the same alley, the woman nowhere to be found. Scrambling to your feet, you felt your neck, feeling what could only be described as 2 puncture marks. Seeing something small and white on the ground near your feet, you leaned down to pick up a note that read,"I hope that you can learn to live with your new gift from me. I'm sorry that I couldn't stay to help you, but I had to leave as soon as I could. Please keep safe and well,Merry Christmas,Melinda"Tears clouded your vision as you read the note from the complete stranger who was the only person that had ever shown you any kindness. As the tears streamed down your face, you felt even more alone than you ever had before. Letting yourself cry for a moment, you wiped your tears on your sleeve, and looked around to find a small gift-wrapped present near where you had just been lying. Leaning down to pick it up, you cautiously opened it to reveal a black necklace with 2 small crosses on it. Smiling slightly, you put it on, and have never taken it off since.
