About me:
Photobucket

The Creative Service Company is a highly-effective music publicity agency owned and run by Randall Davis and specializing in exposure for artists and their albums (primarily North American with some international media contact). Although we have publicized all genres of music over the years, The Creative Service Company has built a strong reputation as one of the top firms publicizing contemporary instrumental, new age, jazz (traditional and smooth), adult vocal, NAR, world, neo-classical, folk, alt-country, blues, classic rock, Christmas and children’s music acts.

If you are a musician, manager or record company executive, I would be glad to email you a Budget Proposal listing five different-sized publicity campaigns. Just send me an email requesting it.

In the contemporary instrumental genre, we have publicized many of the biggest names in the business (acts that often go to #1 on the NAR airplay or BILLBOARD sales charts) -- Andreas Vollenweider, Ray Lynch, David Lanz, Ottmar Liebert, Steve Kindler, David Arkenstone, Paul Winter, Suzanne Ciani, Tangerine Dream, Paul Horn, Wind Machine, Peter Kater, Alex de Grassi, Danny Wright, Robin Spielberg and Jim Chappell.

We also have worked with many top contemporary smooth-jazz acts including Jean-Luc Ponty, The Rippingtons, Steps Ahead, Acoustic Alchemy, Sam Riney, Pat Coil, Bill Cunliffe, Tim Weisberg, Tuck & Patti, Kilauea, Keiko Matsui, Doug Cameron, Brian Auger Denny Jiosa, Doug Cameron, Steve Kahn & Rob Mounsey, and Ryo Kawasaki. In addition, we have publicized numerous instrumental and vocal traditional, straight-ahead jazz artists such as Mike Longo, Beegie Adair, Falkner Evans, Antoinette Montague, Jackie King, Tony Campise, Bill Cunliffe, Joe Augustine, David Friesen, Pete Fountain, Eddie Harris & Ellis Marsalis, Michael Garson and Victor Jones.

In the adult vocal area, we have handled Todd Rundgren, Judy Collins, Bruce Cockburn, Jesse Colin Young, Michael Martin Murphey, Greg Kihn, Eliza Gilkyson, Billy Vera & The Beaters, Donovan, The Monkees, A Flock of Seagulls, The Neville Bros., etc.

On an album campaign, we usually select 200-to-400 print and electronic media to receive the album (depending on the size of the campaign you choose) and then we call and email every one persistently to push for reviews, interviews, feature articles, photos and column items. We also provide weekly written reports outlining what we have scored, and we send it with clippings to everyone involved in the campaign. We take great pride in our written materials which media often confirm to us are some of the very best provided throughout the music industry. We do an in-depth, top-notch, fresh bio with quotes from the artist about their career and the new project.

Randall Davis encourages anyone in the music business who needs publicity to email (CreatServ9@aol.com). Davis says, “I would be glad to listen to a CD on any new or recent project so that I can provide you with feedback at no cost including what I hear in commercial potential and media possibilities.”

COMPANY BACKGROUND:

The Creative Service Company has a personal, hard-working environment with its team comprised of a handful of full-time employees (assisted by part-time personnel) dedicated to success on every project tackled. Randall S. Davis, President, directs the activities by calling on his experience and expertise acquired during several decades of involvement with the entertainment business as a journalist, record company executive and publicist.

Davis began his professional career as a reporter and entertainment editor at the Pasadena Star-News, a twice-daily newspaper where he wrote a weekly music column for four years. He spent a year traveling around the country as a professional musician. Then Davis joined Capitol Records and worked the first two years as the National Manager of Press & Editorial Services in the Publicity Department. He spent the following five years as Capitol's National Director of Merchandising and Advertising in charge of everything from posters and videos to all trade and consumer advertising (print and electronic). Davis went on to become National Marketing Services Manager for Walt Disney Home Video where he oversaw all packaging, advertising, printed materials and publicity. Davis served as an Account Executive at Berkhemer & Kline Public Relations, a large agency in downtown Los Angeles where he handled numerous corporate accounts (Rose Parade, Rose Bowl Game, large concert theaters, an athletic shoe company, international freight carriers, etc.). Davis also spent a year as Vice President of a music-oriented PR firm.

Davis started The Creative Service Company two decades ago; and, after six years in Los Angeles, the agency relocated to Colorado Springs.

SERVICES:

The Creative Service Company offers a wide range of services, but each campaign is individually tailored to the needs and goals of that specific project. The scope of our publicity work alone includes developing image, building name awareness, writing background materials, getting reviews, setting up interviews, placing bios and photos in publications, and offering marketing consulting.

On an album campaign, what sets The Creative Service Company apart is that 200-to-400 media receive the product and then are repeatedly pushed for album reviews, photos, column items, interviews and feature articles. Not only do we call the media persistently to pitch them verbally, we follow-up continuously by mail and email with written pitches, teasers and promotional items striving for a commitment.

In addition, weekly written reports and clippings are provided to all of the executives involved in the campaign. The Creative Service Company works closely with its clients to determine specific objectives and to plan careful, in-depth campaigns.
