   Cream City Collectives's Blurbs
About me:
The Cream City Collectives, located at 732 E. Clarke St., is a number of collectives under one roof: The Mathilda Anneke Infoshop, the Milwaukee Screenprinting Collective, the CCC Gallery, not to mention many other groups that share the space for meetings and events. These groups all work together to share resources--including space, ideas, and time. We are all unified by the mission to "provide an accessible community space that will allow for the creation and diffusion of knowledge, ideas and skills, specifically for the growth of radical and progressive social change."

Our open hours (including open screenprinting hours for experienced members) are:
Monday - Friday: 3pm-7pm
Saturday: 1pm-5pm
Sunday: 12pm-4pm

If you are interested in booking a show, contact CCCshows@gmail.com . But know that we only do acoustic shows and we never have shows that go past 9 o'clock

Umbrella Collective meetings are every Tuesday at 4:30pm at the Cream City Collectives. Anyone who wants to bring events to the space, is interested in being involved with the organization of the space or wants to be involved in any way are welcome to come and participate in discussion.

If you'd like to contribute something other than your time, we have a wish list of items we are hoping to get donated. It would be a big help if you have any of the following:

Screenprinting supplies (shirts, sturdy picture frames, ink)
Office supplies (pens, markers, staples, tape, etc.)
Printer ink
Large food service supplies (pots, ladles, knives)
USB wireless cable
Copy machine
Display cases, shelving
General maintenance items (towels, toilet paper, garbage bags)

For more updated information, please join the CCC listserv here.

Who I'd like to meet:
People who passionately want to create a community without domination and exploitation in all its forms in Milwaukee for ourselves and those we share this community with (young and old, experienced and inexperienced, etc). We do not seek to simply mirror the community or tokenise its members, but to change it for the betterment of all of our lives.

Protest at the Republican Convention! This September the Republicans are
coming to Minnesota to annoint Bush's heir. The Madison peace community
will be joining hundreds of other groups from all over the Midwest to
express our disgust at GOP policies. At 11am on Labor Day (Monday,
September 1st) there will be a march through downtown St. Paul. If we leave
Madison early enough we could bus up to the twin cities, protest and come
back the same night.

For those who'd like to stay longer, the anti-war march is one among many
actions happening during the convention ranging from mass non-violent direct
action and other marches, to concerts and conferences. See
www. protestrnc2008. org .. for more
information.

Anyone who might be interested in taking a bus to St. Paul on Labor Day,
please email me at konkal@charter.net We're still exploring bus options,
including coach vs. school bus and whether or not to have an overnight
option. Please indicate your preference.

Call for Submissions: Anarchist Yarns

Deadline: August 1st
Length: 1000 words or less
How to Submit: email louisvuittonnight@gmail.com

Description:
Anarchism has a bad rap. There are so many myths and negative assumptions about anarchists floating around that to wade through them all would turn anyone into a creature from the black and red lagoon. Which is why we’re devoting a whole issue to our stories from the silly to the poignant, from the hilahrious to the just fucked. We want everyone and their granny anarchy to write in a short little story that presents the real side of anarchists, whatever that may be. Don’t pull your punches though, no one’s selling anything, we want the truth and nothing but the truth. We are particularly interested in getting some good old punk house stories or stories about all the crazy anarchist co-op shit that goes down but we are equally interested in the personal side of things, the tears behind the sunglasses, so to speak. Honestly, it can even be made up if necessary, fuck the truth, in fact a bed-time story or two wouldn’t hurt anyone. We know you have your stories, and you have a full month, so make it work!

ps.
We’re still looking for anarchist erotic stories, do anarchists even have sex anymore?

This Friday @ Stonefly Brewery in Riverwest, Eat The Mystery will perform as an opener for John The Savage. The show starts at 9:30pm with Chicago's The Netherfriends, who bring their own idiosyncratic sound for a show in the Brew City. Eat The Mystery will follow with a set that includes torch songs, alcohol themed sing-a-longs, and anthems for losers and misanthropes. Eat The Mystery practice the poor stage with reverie and seek only to entertain those who want to be entertained. John The Savage close the night with a unique style that sets them apart from any of their peers.

On May 30th - June 1st, 2008, folks from all over the Midwest will be heading to Minneapolis, Minnesota to flesh out solid proposals in regards to how we’ll work together against the RNC/DNC come September and August.

This three day event will include essential party-crashing workshops, networking, and intensive strategizing. If you have a specific workshop you’d like to see or facilitate, get a hold of us at the email address at the bottom of this release.

TO GET INTO THE STRATEGIZING SESSION YOU MUST BE VOUCHED FOR.
If your planning on making it to the strategizing session, please send an RSVP (to the e-mail at the bottom of this release) specifying your willingness to be apart of it. At this point we’ll send you a form to complete and send back to us.

THE REST OF THE WEEKEND IS OPEN TO EVERYONE.
Because of this, we ask that folks to keep security culture in mind to create the safest space possible for all parties involved.

PLANNING EARLY.
We are asking people to send their proposals and ideas for the strategizing session ahead of time so we can go into this organized. You can send your input to the email address at the bottom of this release.

We will be providing childcare for most (if not the entire) convergence. Please give the organizers a hand and RSVP ahead of time to the e-mail at the bottom of this release. We need to stock up on toys and supplies!
