Creaky Boards is the name Andrew Hoepfner has attached to all of his music since moving to New York City in 2004. The band structure has shapeshifted numerous times, beginning with a sorta folk-punk duo, then a chain of brian wilsony type big ensemble incarnations. It has dabbled in the pianoman solo route. Creaky Boards has been Andrew and Angela singing soft songs. It's been Andrew and Shilpa and Michael dressed in costume. It has been a rotating cast of a dozen people jumping on and off stage. Most recently, Creaky Boards was Andrew playing the glockenspiel, accompanied by his laptop on a 2008 spring tour of Europe. Creaky Boards also toured the Midwest and East Coast of the US in the fall of 2007, which was another proud moment. The main recording Creaky Boards has put out was the "Where's the Sunshine?" LP in 2005. There was also the recent "Grey Seeds" tour EP this spring (6 glockenspiel recordings), a self-titled collection of demos in 2004, a lost LP in 2004 called "Michigan", and heaps and heaps of unreleased songs published on the internet. You may not believe it, but the second Creaky Boards LP, "Brooklyn Is Love", is almost fucking done. At this point in time, it seems most essential to let you know that Creaky Boards is the work of small, humble, patient, mostly-unknown musicians who put great faith in the special moments of expression, communication, reality, spirituality, and transcendence through music. xoxo
There would be definite advantages to having my own personal spoiler follow me around (avoid arrest, heartbreak, the flu), however, there is something to be said for the sultry goldfish surprises of life. So I'm going to go ahead and say that life is just great the way it is.
