"A stripped down band with a stripped down almost live off the floor sound, Coppersonic takes the elements found in rock, blues and country to create music with deep, traditional American roots. John Truelove's vocals impart a broken-hearted urgency to the emotionally charged lyrics and swooning melodies which are sung over John Carini's handsomely raw and visceral guitar. Carried on the back of John Hummel's irrepressible, velvet-freight-train rhythms, Coppersonic writes and performs the type of music that brings to mind the raw swagger of the Rolling Stones and the live power of the Allman Brothers at the Filmore East.
Coppersonic's new CD (release date October, 2005), "Songs from the County Line" was recorded at Retromedia in Red Bank NJ by Paul Ritchie (What About Frank). The music clearly reflects the band's musical roots and features performances by a group that has hit their stride as a band and as individual players.
Based in New York, Coppersonic was founded by bassist/singer John Truelove and guitarist John Carini in early 2002. Truelove is originally from Virginia and he brings a definitive country flavor to the band's sound as evidenced by the distinctive southern accent in his voice. A native of Long Island, John Carini developed an articulate and very musical style of guitar playing that has its roots in Hendrix and is supplemented by classical training.
The newest member, John Hummel was recruited to fill out the lineup on drums. His powerful drumming style, which echoes the sounds of the great 1970s power drummers, is heard for the first time on "Songs from the County Line.
These components come together to create the tight, memorable songs on "Songs from the County Line" and their debut CD Coppersonic. Since the bands formation, Coppersonic has performed continuously in the eastern US from Vermont to North Carolina, made television appearances and have been heard on national and international radio.
