I support Cynthia McKinney, Green Party candidate for president.
Rocky Balboa, Casablanca, Breakfast At Tiffany's, Seabiscuit, The Shawshank Redemption, Moonstruck, 1776, To Kill A Mockingbird, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, The Astronaut Farmer, Beetlejuice, It's A Wonderful Life, Ronin, Phenomenon, North By Northwest, Ed Wood, The Godfather, Rocky, Hoosiers, Wonder Boys, American History X, The Hunt For Red October, The Life & Times of Hank Greenberg. Also all kinds of documentaries, romantic comedies, anything produced by Ken Burns, anything with Gene Hackman, Tom Hanks, Michael Keaton, Johnny Depp, or Morgan Freeman; obscure foreign & independent films. Do you see a pattern here? I don't either. =)
Television
I loved my ReplayTV box (ReplayTV preceded TiVo), may it rest in peace. It is now the biggest doorstop in Virginia, unfortunately. I miss St. Elsewhere, Hill Street Blues, and The West Wing. I'll regularly watch CBS Sunday Morning, 60 Minutes, and most anything on PBS or the MHz network, plus Washington Nationals & Baltimore Orioles baseball games. But I spend less and less time with television as time goes by and my set frequently functions as a monitor for music DVD's and movies.
About me: Ferret fan waiting patiently for the reality-challenged staff of the California Dept. of Fish & Game to stop insisting that ferrets are wild animals; lover of dwarf hamsters, Syrian hamsters, guinea pigs, and chinchillas; Spanish, Portuguese, & Esperanto speaker; karaoke junkie; field hockey diehard & the Olympian that never was; vegetarian, composer, and keyboard whiz. If you don't like men who love small animals......speak foreign languages.....preach practical nonviolence & peaceful conflict resolution.....dabble in radical politics, or are musicians with an insanely diverse range of musical interests, then I'm probably not the guy for you. But, then again, they do say that opposites attract. Unless you like smashing dogs or baby seals over the head.
Who I'd like to meet: Both men and women (I don't have nearly enough guy friends). Open-minded people (nonconformists can march right on in). People who don't say "so I was, like...." every ten seconds. People with something interesting to say about what goes on (or isn't going on) in the world. People who don't hate other people (or animals).
I'm very interested in meeting folks with whom I may have nothing in common, whom otherwise I'd be very unlikely to encounter out in the real world. I am very far to the left politically, consider myself a citizen of the world, and am committed to deep & fundamental social change, but I am very interested in getting to know people who disagree with my views and my politics, or who have no interest in these things whatsoever. The diversity of people on my friends list here reflects this.
I think it's quite important to learn how to get along with people with whom you disagree about things.
