Influences

Bloody hell...what, and who, hasn't been an influence? I bet YOU have, even though we might never have met. So, apart from you and, obviously, COMMANDER SWIFT himself, the main influences would be Elvis Costello, Francis Bacon, Peter Cook, David Bowie, David Niven, Jarvis Cocker and his wonderful band 'Pulp', Samuel Beckett, Neil Hannon, Graham Coxon, Mick Ronson, Joe Jackson, Ronnie Barker, Viv Stanshall, Squeeze...y'know...loads.

We could also say that we cultivate a wistful nostalgia for a more innocent and dignified age. Such as when Europe was bombing its own face off during the glorious '40s. Yet we are also driven to discover the unknown delights that our futures hold, such as the potential of earning enough to pay off all of your debts. Yes, YOUR debts.

   About Commander Swift

It's fun to be a scallywag for a while, as we four gentlemen of Commander Swift's London know only too well. We once possessed a monkey's mastery of childish bother.

There comes a time, though, to leave the toerag attire behind. These days we saunter around - still curious, still waspish - with a cultivated, urbane self-possession.

We provide help for the hopeful.

Showing off mindlessly should not entitle you to demand the centre of attention; it is enough to find oneself there naturally.

"Classic catchy pop [...] these Londoners are no Poundland shelf-stacker careerists." - soundsxp

Hope its all going well for you guys. We just got our album mastered finally, so are v excited. Going on tour next month. We're at the Metro on 28th July if you fancy it?

Last night was the best gig! Cool venue, a crowd who were there for the music, not just a quiet pint, and a great playlist that includes Night Star. Yay to that!

But seriously now, great to see you play, lovely to meet you at last (well, 2 of you anyway) and you must be special so I nearly got stranded for you!!! Night buses 2 nights in a row...should have held out for the triple absinthe and unicorn tears...x
