| About The Cobra Kais |
Hailing form Mexico City, the Cobra Kais are an original, powerful, organic band. About 5 years ago, Emiliano and Diego were in another local band named Dicky Joe, alongside drummer Alex. In this band, Diego played bass and took over vocal duties in a couple of songs. This band was part of the local scene of bands, but they were never embraced by it, nor did Dicky Joe embrace the scene. The band felt that the scene was unoriginal, boring and very envious. Plus, singing in english, which Dicky Joe did, was frowned upon and considered treason among mexican bands, which of course, is complete bullshit. Having said that the music that was being made by the local bands was untalented and unoriginal, Dicky Joe looked within itself, and discovered that they were not part of the sollution, but part of the problem. Even though Dicky Joe's music was very good and respectable, it didn't contribute anything new. Thus, the decision was made to retire all the music (about 20 concrete songs) and start all over again. This led to the birth of what evolved to be the Cobra Kais. Rehearsals started and from the beginning, the sound and the music were refreshing. Alex sarted to miss rehearsals and a friend, Cesar, was asked to fill in on drums. After a few months of Alex failing to rehearse or even get in touch with the other members, the desicion was made to fire him and to get Cesar as a full member. And an old friend of Emiliano's and a former bandmate of his (in Canis Lupus), returned from college in Canada. He was recruited to play bass and Diego switched to keyboards, an instrument which was better suited for him anyway. At this time, the band changed the name to Flyspeck. After a year and a half or so of playing live in cafes and clubs (and staying away from the local band scene), the band recorded the Blue Demo. Bernardo quit and went to Germany to get a Masters Degree in who knows what. The other band members wished him the best of luck and continued with the band. Diego would fill in the bass parts with the keyboard, but the sound wasn't the same. After a few months, a new change in musical direction happened. Flyspeck died to give birth to the Cobra Kais, simply a rock outfit. The rest is for you to judge...
