Sounds Like
...coming home...
...crisp, autumn air...
...angst and confusion...
...despairing hope...
...disillusionment with religion and politics...
The new album is finished. And we're so proud of it. So proud.
Whereas But I Tell You was angsty and frustrated at the world and it’s institutions, and In Search of a Unified Theory offered seeds of hope birthed out of personal sacrifice, Fragile Iconoclast tells the story of personal limitations. Ideals and dreams might seem to work in our heads and hearts, but in real life, how will we fare? Will we turn a blind eye to our own inconsistencies or will we reconcile? Will we admit that we cannot always live as we would like to? Will we recognize that every decision has a cost involved? Will we understand that where we’ve come from fashions and forms where we are going?
This album is a bit more personal and intimate than previous projects. There’s no grandstanding…just grief and enlightenment about being finite. 7 tracks recorded in a sort of hybrid live-studio fashion in our home in San Francisco across 3 days. The CD is bundled with a DVD, featuring a documentary on the making of the album, directed by Travis Reed (Highway Video, The Work of the People).
