About me: TO FIND OUT THE LATEST ABOUT THE CLUB 49 TAILGATE CREW CHECK OUT OUR WEBSITE AND FORUM @ WWW.CLUB49.ORG
During the glory days of the 49ers in the 1980's and 1990's, it was hard to get a ticket to see our boys play at Candlestick. As the 49ers went into salary cap hell and bad seasons in the early 2000's. The fanbase that once filled up our beloved stadium had dwindled dramatically. In came an influx of diehard, true, Faithful 49ers fans who were unable to get season tickets during the years of the 10 year waiting list that came with being perennial Super Bowl contenders every year. Finally over the last few years our tailgate crew is mostly comprised of season ticket holders who have stuck with the team during our down years.
The only way to get through some of these hard luck seasons has been through tailgating in the parking lot at Candlestick. A majority of us have known each other through discussing the 49ers on the 49ers.com message board. And from there we have met up and have been tailgating since then.
In 2005, the name Club 49 was thrown around by our fellow tailgater Dre. Our tailgates were getting big and the atmosphere surrounding the tailgate made it feel like we were at the club partying like rockstars. We would have multiple bottles of liquor on the shot shooter. People dancing on "Big Red" (truck) and the coolers. Having some of the best food out there to be had. Tailgating at Club 49 has definitely enhanced the whole NFL game experience for us all. At the end of the season we played a part of being recognized as the 2005 Tailgaters of the Year.
In 2006, the party just kept on moving. From tailgating in Arizona for Week 1 in the extreme hot weather to partying it up on Christmas eve for the last home game. Club 49 definitely is the spot to be at for San Francisco 49er tailgates. Its not your regular tailgate. We go all out to shock people. You can't walk past our tailgate without saying at the very least "Wow!!"
In 2007, we looked for any excuse to tailgate. We
BBQ'ed for the NFL Draft, 49ers Training camp and just random
Holidays. Once the season rolled around, we partied like no tomorrow
and finished the season as the Monster Park 2007 Tailgaters of the
Year.
We take care of our fellow faithful, we've had people join us from all over the world.
Once a year, Club 49 picks a 49er away game to go taiigate at. In 2006, we went to Arizona, in 2007 we went to Seattle and its looking like in 2008 we will be headed to Dallas.
