JAPANESE ROCK FEST CLASH AGAINST COMMERICIALISM CANCELLED
NEW YORK, NY (March 28, 2008) – For reasons beyond their control, rock fest Clash Against Commercialism set for April 6, 2R008 at New York City’s Nokia Theatre Times Square has been cancelled. A delay in securing visas for members of the featured Japanese bands, combined with scheduling conflicts, has promoters unable to reconfirm a new date as of today.
Organizers would like to thank all those who helped build the event, as well as all the fans who purchased tickets. Refunds will be available at point of purchase.
In the past few years, the genre “Visual kei” together with many Japanese bands have gained recognition in America.
Other than the flamboyant and flashy appearance, the bands that will be showcased at this festival have nothing in common with the other bands, for the exception of Dir en grey, which have stepped foot on American soil.
The difference can be seen in the usage of the element of “visual” (glam) in their method of expression, as opposed to the assertion towards society which is visual, in the case of our bands.
The former bands can be seen emphasizing the fundamentals of hard rock in their music when our bands simply pour their soul out into their sounds.
The genes origination from FREE-WILL which once controlled half of the West Side of Japan is finally taking root in New York.
Furthermore, this severe moment that cannot be described simply with an easy word like ‘Live Show’ is just around the corner.

Clash Against Commercialism's Friend Space (Top 19)
i doubt it will be rescheduled since the real reason for canceling is NOT visas. they probably were short on sales and going through with the concert would have cost more money. all about profit.
This sucks!!! o >.<" o I was looking forward to this concert!! And this was suppose to be my first concert & early birthday present!! I didn't even find out this was cancelled until just now. :[
I hope this will be rescheduled & everything will work out!
this is just unacceptable!!! do u knwo how long ive been looking forward to this?!!!thank god i live her in NYC or else i would be even more upset...thanx alot for killing my excitment in just seconds -_-... i better get all my money back
You guys didn't give details on which band didn't acquire their visas, but I'm sure all the fans will still attend the show if one band out of four didn't make it.
all the bands playing (minus the studs and boogieman) have played a show in the us within the last year (i.e. they have visas). why would they cancel the whole show if 1 or 2 of the minor bands can't show up?
This blows major-ly >D I'm still going to NYC that day though and doing something better. Anybody want to go? XD Man...I'm not going to say anything because ....everyone is going to badmouth you now....and it is immature but understand where people are coming from...especially people not native to the NY area. You should have a better apology written out for these fans. It's probably the companies fault...not the bands....so don't jump to conclusions and start casting these bands aside yet....we have no clue who to point the finger at. Well we shouldn't being pointing fingers to start with but yah <. <
I think you people have some nerve to sit and boost sales, even have people putting up posters at the TOC shows last week promoting this thing only to dash hundreds of people's happiness and cancel this at the last minute. Do you realize how many people were flying from other countries for this? Do you realize how many people country wide changed their work schedules, their school schedules just to come to this and were traveling from far and wide? You had MONTHS. Almost FIVE MONTHS to get your act together and to prepare this concert properly, and I don't know who screwed up and didn't get these things done but maybe next time you should consider all getting on the same damn page and having visas and passports done BEFORE you announce a show, put tickets on sale, and disrupt so many people's lives - and that goes for bands and fans alike.
These aren't just concerts for so many people. This is a chance to see their friends they only see once or twice a year, it's a chance for so many people to come together and share one same interest that may single them apart in their every day lives. Do you think it's just a drop in the hat for someone who had to fly from Europe? Do you think it's easy for someone to just request time off during an overly busy work week? What are you going to do to give those people back the time they spent fighting for that time off. What are you going to do for those people who spent hundreds if not thousands of dollars which are now down the drain.
I hope you are damn proud of your unprofessionalism and the fact that you've just upset so many people in a matter of seconds. There's not much lower you could've gone, so good luck trying to plan this again with the same support you had this time. This makes me absolutely sick.
It's ridiculous that you gave us about a week and a half's notice that this event wasn't going to happen. I'm pretty sure you all are aware that there's a good amount of people flying across the country for this. Now I'm stuck with my $271 plane ticket that I can't get refunded. Thanks a fucking lot.
