About me:
We are a Minnesota-based nonprofit advocacy group for wild animals used in entertainment. It is our philosophy that the use of wild animals in circuses is inherently inhumane. Circus Reform Yes believes in the power of compassionate, humane education to make profound changes in society's attitude, and to alleviate the unnecessary suffering caused by the archaic institution of wild animal circuses.

We are currently focusing our efforts on a city-wide ban on wild animal circuses in Minneapolis -- and are closer than we've ever been before to seeing this compassionate legislation become law! Please visit our Web site for the latest news and more information.

Who I'd like to meet:
E-Democracy.org Forum - Speak Up! Want Minneapolis to prohibit wild animal circuses? Disturbed by the financial arguments that Council Members Paul Ostrow, Barb Johnson, Betsy Hodges and Lisa Goodman are using? Do you think the Target Center's debt should be financed on the backs of the animals in the circus? Local politicians check this website to get a pulse on the community. Voice your opinion HERE Compassionate Minnesotans who agree that animals should not have to suffer for our trivial entertainment.

Community activists, religious leaders, and legislators who recognize the moral imperative to protect both wild animals from abuse and the human population from its consequences.

And, especially, any and all residents of Minneapolis -- Please call your City Council Member, volunteer your time,or donate today!

Wild Animal Sanctuary

Feb 27 2008 7:03 AM

As many of you already know - The Sanctuary is quickly being surrounded by development and we need to purchase land right now to stop the growth before it creates a situation where the sanctuary would have to move its entire operation! Right now you can help the animals obtain more habitat… and also help us prevent having to spend millions on moving and rebuilding!
Many of you have helped us with this cause already… and we have raised over half of the $270,000 needed to secure the land – but we only have about 10 days to raise the rest of the money – so we need your help right now!!!
Please watch this new video about our urgent need at the Animal Sanctuary...

Please pass this on to everyone you know in order to make this happen! Anyone can donate to help save this land by donating at our secure web site (click on the link below):

http://www. wildanimalsanctuary. ws/index. asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=36&HS=1
Thank you so much for being there to help the animals – everyone here at the sanctuary thanks you very much!
Sincerely,

Today I get to share great news -- great international news as reported
in the UK's Guardian newspaper, Tuesday, October 30, under the headline,
"Alaskan elephant finds her place in the sun." (p 22)

The article, by Dan Glaister, opens with:

"Maggie the elephant packed her trunk and said goodbye to Alaska at the
weekend. The zoo in Anchorage has finally agreed to move its lone
elephant to California after a lengthy debate that has pitched the
interests of the 25-year-old animal against those keen to keep the
state's only elephant at the zoo.

"Maggie, an African elephant originally from Zimbabwe, will be an
unusual and single passenger aboard a US air force C-17 transport plane
flying to California's Travis air force base on Thursday. She will be
flown inside a crate for the 12-hour journey.

"Once in California she will be taken to her new home, a sanctuary run
by the Performing Animal Welfare Society in San Andreas, near
Sacramento. The conditions there should be more conducive to the good
health of the elephant than the cold of Alaska.

"At the sanctuary, where temperatures at the weekend were 24C (75F),
Maggie will be living with nine other elephants. The conditions are in
stark contrast to her previous lodgings, where temperatures rose to just
2C (35F) on Sunday.

"In Anchorage Maggie, who has been alone since the death of the zoo's
other elephant, Annabelle, 10 years ago, lived in an elephant house with
concrete floors and a small outside enclosure."

You'll find the full article, the same version, on Australia's The Age
newspaper website. You can read it at
http://...com/ynt8jp

The story provides a great opportunity for letters to the editor about
holding wild animals captive for human entertainment. Aussies can
respond to The Age at letters@theage.com.au
The paper advises, "All letters and email (no attachments) to The Age
must carry

Thank You For Supporting The Wild Animal Sanctuary! For over 26 years The Wild Animal Sanctuary has been rescuing Captive Wildlife across the US. The Sanctuary is home to over 155 wild animals including Lions, Bears, Tigers, Wolves, Mountain Lions, Leopards & Small Cats that live on 140 acres of rolling grassland just outside of Denver, Colorado. The Animals are rescued from private owners who keep them as pets, commercially exploit them in circuses & roadside attractions, & bred them over & over, just to sell their cubs for profit. There are about 30,000 animals in the US that are in this condition. They arrive emaciated, usually with urine burns on their feet (result of walking in their own urine & feces), fluid-filled joints (from living in concrete cages), bone deformities (from poor nutrition), & facial deformities from abuse. They come to a place where they have spacious indoor/outdoor habitats, the best quality food available, plenty of time to run, play & swim, with lots of love & affection!
The Wild Animal Sanctuary has been in an ongoing financial crisis. (please read owner & founder, Pat Craigs letter on myspace profile). It costs up to $17,000/week to care for all our animals! Please support the Sanctuary in any way that you can, either financially or by spreading the word. Please check blog postings on the profile & in group Animal Sanctuaries, Rescues & Zoos for updates. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to send an e-mail or instant message! We need funding to keep its animals alive so another healthy animal, deserving of life, is not put to death.
Please visit www.wildanimalsanctuary.org for more info.
