Our original night, was downstairs in the most orange bar in East Oxford - Mangos, on Cowley Road. The original incarnation of Chunga was noted for piranhas, wild dancing, manic grins and injecting a large dose of wonk into the weekend.
Now it's in the most blue bar in Oxford, which is basically the same place. Instead of piranhas we have a smoke machine and an awful lot of bass. You can't fault progress. The music policy includes Breaks, Electro, Bassline, House, Dubstep, Tech, Hip Hop and a healthy dose of whatever else takes our fancy. R&B need not apply.
Wired
Wired is our residency at Thirst. Originally based in Thirst bar, oted for smoke and mirrors, strobes, tasty Mojitos and juggling barmen, Wired has now moved to Thirst Lodge where they have antlers, 2 way mirrors and angle poise lamps sticking out of the wall. As well as all of the above, with Wired we widen our repertoire to include live electronica and scratching.
Take 5
An occasional and irregular event, in which everyone is invited to bring along 5 tunes and play them to the assembled company. Eclecticism is vehemently encouraged, eccentricity applauded and self-consciousness shunned.
