bio: Christy Nockels was born in Ft. Worth, TX, a seminary baby. She grew up in Oklahoma as the daughter of a pastor and a piano teacher which infused her heart early with a love for both music and God’s word.
Christy makes her home in Franklin, TN with her husband Nathan and their 3 children. She met Nathan in 1993 at the Christian Artists Seminar in Estes Park, CO. It was love at first sight! They married two years later and began serving as worship leaders in their local church in Oklahoma City while Nathan finished college at OBU and Christy taught preschool. It was during these early years that many songs & dreams were born in their little one bedroom apartment. Soon after Nathan’s graduation, they were invited to move to Texas where they led worship at Metro Bible Study, a weekly gathering of 3000 young adults at Houston’s First Baptist Church. It was there that they were “discovered” by Rocketown Records, a small label in Franklin, TN owned by Michael W. Smith. Eventually they signed a recording contract and moved to Franklin in 1998. Around this time they also became involved with the Passion Conferences, a nationwide movement of college students dedicated to the fame and renown of Jesus Christ.
Together as Watermark, Nathan and Christy recorded five albums with Rocketown Records. They have composed a journey full of songs, 7 of which were 1 radio singles. They have been nominated for numerous Dove Awards, including Christy’s nominations for Female Vocalist of the Year in 2005 & 2007, and their record “A Grateful People” was up for Worship Album & Special Event Album of the year in 2007. Nathan and Christy have partnered with many artists such as Matt Redman, Chris Tomlin, Charlie Hall and Tim Hughes on various projects and the worship recordings of the Passion Conferences.
With the release of their fifth record “A Grateful People” in the Spring of 2006, Nathan and Christy laid down their Watermark journey to pursue other areas of ministry. Christy is taking more time to be one on one with their children, but still continuing to write, create, lead worship, mentor and minister. Christy and Nathan are currently “artists in residence” at their home church in Franklin, leading 14 Sundays a year. Christy is writing for a new record to release in 2008, and continuing to sing and speak at various conferences and events across the nation. Christy’s heart is to encourage young women through worship and teaching, and also to encourage women of all ages to pursue mentorship relationships. Drawing from her own life experiences, through word and song, is what she loves to do most. With a heart to see young women open up their lives fully to God, Christy desires to leave a legacy and to proclaim the name of Jesus over this generation.

Hi Christy! Just wanted to say thank you for the song "glory baby." I've had two miscarriages this year and your music ministry has been a blessing to me and my husband.--Thinking of you and your babies during the Pregnancy and Infant Loss awareness month! God Bless.
Christy, my family and I go to church with you and are sad that your family is leaving. We understand though because God called us to Nashville two years ago.
I have always been a fan and to this day All Things New is still my favorite album.

Hey Christy, Thanks for the add and all you do for the Lord. Your music has always been an encouragement to me, I'm glad you're recording a new album. Have a great rest of the week and may God bless everything you put your hands to. Jeff
thought I would let you know how much I praised God at Passion regionals in atlanta this year. the way you lead in worship is so humble, but it is also extremely skillful at the same time. that is HARD to find these days.
Thanks for the add. I am so excited you are going to release new material. I loved your work with Watermark and look forward to seeing what the Lord will lay on your heart and how it will translate into song!
Hi Christy, Thanks for adding me to your vast list of friends. I have been blessed by your music for as many years as it has been in circulation now. Your songs strike me as genuine, from the heart glimpses of your life and as such, are powerful testimonies of how God is at work within you. These testimonies set to music tend to really strike a chord with people because God works in similar ways with all of His children. As a result, they encourage and strengthen the body of Christ, probably more than you can know. A heart felt thanks I humbly extend to you for sharing your gift with all of us!
You have the voice of an angel! I met you in Kansas at a church that you came to sing for. I have been amazed at the sounds of your voice. I have always wanted to be able to sing like that. Keep on sending out your angelic sounds for many to hear and to come to the Maker! Great job! Take Care, God Bless!!! Rhonda
Just wanted to say "hey"! Saw you at the Dove Awards last night....awesome job! I was a seat filler and ended up on the front row with Marvin Sapp's wife for most of the night. I just tried to blend in and not look like a "fan" :)
Anyway, just thought I'd say "hi". Hope the recording's going great!
I'm excited to hear you have a new album coming out! My husband and I are worship leaders and your music is very influential to our style. Thank you for sharing your gifts and talents with the world!
