| About Cheatin' Hearts |
|
The Cheatin’ Hearts Band – as a whole, there are some who might call them a group of no-good-country-playin’- hippies, but a sum would not be a sum without its parts. *******After failin’ the NYPD entrance exam a whoppin’ thirty-seven times, a young Uncle Bob traveled out west to Nashville, TN to pursue a crime-fightin’ career. After purchasin’ a Winchester shotgun, Uncle Bob was soon greeted with open arms and before he knew it, he done been put in the highest position of law-enforcement as The Sheriff of Good Times. Sheriff Uncle Bob spent most days sleepin’ and most evenin’s drinkin’ moonshine, practicin’ the dobro til he had perfectied the subtleties of the difficult instrument. *******It was durin’ one of them drunken country music jamborees that our very own Sheriff just happen to come ‘cross two of the finest lookin’ gurly-gurls in the entire southern area, Miss Kitty Kat and Miss Jo-day. A harmonizin’ duo these two fine ladies were, addin’ just the right flair to Bob’s jamming ways, never missin’ a beat and flankin’ him arm-in-arm every step of the way. Not only that, but Misses Kat and Jo-day had a little trick up their sleeves, given private lessons, of some sort they say, to all the boys who came a askin’! Thinkin’ back long and hard, Miss Jode was playin’ flute years back long before she became the most popular bluegrass/country flautist in history. As for Miss Kat, well, when you hear her wailing about her Cheatin’ Heart, you’re sure to fall in love.
*******The trio took off, searchin’ for trouble, playin’ for the hobo crowd on north-bound trains. As the train pulled in to ol’ Kentucky, Jody and Kat went out lookin’ for new boots when they happen’ to spy a crowd of folk encircling a flaming garbage can. As fate would have it, there played three of the best darn musicians those lucky ladies and the Sheriff had ever seen or heard.
*******Tommy strummed the guitar like there weren’t no tomorrow, Dave plucked the up-right so furiously that those bass notes rang out half-a-mile, and Noah… well it was common knowledge that he sold his soul to ol’ Beelzebub for those there Kazoo chops.
*******Next thing you knows, these six lonsesome souls got together and CLICK somethin’ happened ------- the music was on FIRE. The Sheriff rockin’ the dobro, Kat and Jody backin’ up the vocal harmony, Dave keepin’ the beat, Tommy strumming away on rhythm, and Noah on the mandolin and the kazoo at the same time (what can we say… he’s one of them multi-talented men).
*******The notes were there, but the name they still needed. After talking through names like “Always Faithful Significant Others” and “Never Been Divorced Cause I Love Me My Relationship”, somethin’ just didn’t feel right and the band went on indefinite hiatus.
*******Flash-forward to the year two-thousand-somethin’… when the band regrouped and, with a little more life experience behind them, settled on the name of the “Cheatin’ Hearts Band,” which not only pays homage to the great Hank Williams, but also is a great “Up Yours” to all those that have ever wronged them in the past.*******So come one, come all, and enjoy great nights of country music fun, as you join them Cheatin’ Hearts with a big ol’ “That’ll teach ya!” to those cheatin’ ex’s.
