Charles Star, Proud Papa's Comedian Bio
|
| Bio | After six deary years as an attorney working for The Man, Charles Star quit to try out stand-up comedy. Then he ran out of money. So he is a lawyer again, which at least forces him to interact with people who aren’t comedians. He believes that this helps his comedy, or, at least, tells himself that it does so that he doesn’t cry at his day job.
Charles has been a contributor to the Onion News Network and Modern Humorist and is a regular contributor to Stay Free! Daily, the blog companion to the excellent Stay Free! magazine. He has performed at clubs and alternative rooms all over New York City including Comix, Gotham Comedy Club, Stand-Up New York, Laugh Lounge, Laugh Factory and Rififi as well as a small sample of clubs across the country. Charles has also done voice actor work for the Onion Radio News.
Finally, Charles currently hosts the monthly lecture series Adult Education at Union Hall in Park Slope. | | Website | Rick's Cafe Americain - rickblaine.com |

| Books | You want book recommendations from MySpace? Why not go ask your dad for a suggestion about music. Check back later when I'm feeling less grumpy. And while you are waiting, read Lucky Jim by Kingsley Amis. |

Charles Star, Proud Papa's Blurbs |
About me:
Do you seet that schedule up there? That is because I am a stand-up comic. I host the monthly lecture series Adult Education at Union Hall in Park Slope and perform at venues all over New York City.
I also have a blog. So right there, you know that I am interesting. Or you would if I ever posted to that blog. Take a look; you'll see that I used to be interesting. Sort of.
I also write for Stay Free! Daily, which is also a blog, but has the virtue of being read by other people. It is connected to Stay Free! magazine, which you should be reading. Unless you aren't very bright; if you aren't bright it will simply frustrate you. American media, consumer culture, Brooklyn. Smart stuff, yet not tedious or tendentious. Also, I blog about Prospect Lefferts Gardens at Hawthorne Street.
In addition to blogging - as if people did things in addition to blogging - I have been a contributor to the Onion News Network and Modern Humorist. I have also done voice work for the Onion Radio News including here, here, here and here.
Lastly, I was invited to make fun of an old lady on Gawker. So I did.
