Brazilian diaspora artist Célia Mara impresses with carismatic voice and an ecletic but tipically brazilian mixture of music.
Bastardista, her actual album, released in may 2005 by globalista: no border media in vienna, entered straight ahead in the Top 10 of the European World Music Charts, climbed up the playlist all over Europa and Russia, was ranked various times among the „best of the year, best of the week“ selections in different countries, got amazing reviews in the international music-press, tracks from bastardista are to find on excellent compilations.
Célia Mara won the 2006 brazilian culture export award "COPA DA CULTURA", Brasil in Germany.… and symbolizes with her music the fight for a borderless society.
And that's not enough: after performing on various huge festivals in Europe (like the Africa-festival in Würzburg, Zeltival/Karlsruhe or Sabor de Samba/Offenburg), giving her voice against homophobia and racial discrimation in Berlin’s CSD for 400.000 people, and during the carnival in Brazil and on major festivals in Russia as well as in exclusive clubs between London, Moscow and Praha, she performed at the fabolous Vienna Opera house, during the Jazzfest Vienna, sharing the stage with legendary Omara Portuondo!
