CATSKILL, his alter ego/ stage name would prove to
stand out in the overpopulated hip hop scene. It was
2005 when Cat took his raw ability to rhyme to the
masses, he entered a freestyle battle on local hip hop
station FLAVA 107.9 only to be retired as freestyle
champ. After gaining accolades as ''Battle Champ'' he
wanted to prove that he could write like no other artist
in his genre.
Cat’s first single ''Get'Em'' grabbed the ears of listeners
by hitting them with such an unorthadox flow it was
coined ''ALIEN''. It was then Cat decided to make his
love for hip hop, his career. Catskill a grade 9 drop out
who was raised in Winnipeg’s notorious ''West End'' had
no options but to rhyme.
''I was made fun of as a kid because of my name Funk. I
told people it was what made me different, also raised
on McGee Street. I used to go by the name MC G
DOUBLE E''. With the industry getting bigger Cat new
he had to stick out like a sore thumb. His first full
length album ''Heir To The Throne'' only has 2 collaborations,
''I love That '' featuring Canadian Juno winner
MOKA ONLY from Swollen Members fame. and ''Fe Fi Fo
Fum'' featuring BIZARRE from D12, EMINEM’S group.
Catskill is the evolution of hip hop. Catskill will dominate
the ringtone era with ''GOOD TO GO'' and ''WHOA''
as well as ''YEAR OF THE CAT'' a remake of the classic
Al stewart song.
People want to buy full albums, but they dont want to
buy ''filler''. Catskill will prove that substance, style,
swagger, ambition and originality are key’s to success.
