I'm a hard worker and I love coffee. Two great things that go well together, wouldn't you say? My job, as the co-captain on a deep-space vessel, is pretty isolating. Captain Adam, the other captain on the ship is kind of a jerknut, and I really haven't hit off too well with him. He doesn't seem to take a our mission seriously. And, well, for me, it's all about the mission.
I guess that's what I'm about: finding a purpose. There's no time that when I'm happier than when I'm doing what I supposed to be doing in order to reach an objective.
When I'm off-duty, I like reading and listening to music. I would run diagnostics on the ship's subsystems, but Frankie, the on-board computer takes care of that and doesn't leave me much else. I do it anyway, just to keep busy, but, I have to admit, it sometimes feels a little empty.
Someday I hope to captain my own ship, maybe a luxury recreational vessel like the new Omega-3 class. But before I can get to do that, I'll have to work my way up, pay my dues, show that I can be trusted with a ship, even if it is largely autonomous.
You can watch edited versions of our security tapes and see what life is like on the OTTO-5 by visiting our website captainsinspace.com. I had to call it "captains" in space, because for some stupid reason our company demanded that we both be captains of the same vessel. Whatever.
