Capicu Poetry in Brooklyn: Friday July 25th's Blurbs
About me:
The Capicu Cultural Showcase is a popular and powerful collaboration that is making history in Brooklyn!
We are a grassroots cultural house of poetry and performing arts, known for our energetic Open Mic shows!
We are a partnership between the event coordinator PaPo Swiggity and SofritoForYourSoul.com (Urban Jibaro), fully staffed with a graphics & audio-visual team, event management and supported by some of NYC's most powerful artists & musicians.
We welcome all styles and poets,
though it is themed around our Nuyorican origins.
For the open mic and cultural show, we use the space once a month in Notice Lounge, one of the neighborhoods premiere
mid sized bars, located securely across the street from the 90th Police Precinct.
We also have a bi-weekly online radio show for the global community, here you can listen to some of our archived shows:

Our mantra is that we educate & entertain, in order to culturally
enrich and empower the neighborhood’s sense of self.
In December 2007, we created the Pa’L Pueblo Toy Drive, which helped bring toys to over 100 children at a Bushwick United Headstart school.
In February 2008, we brought legendary author Piri Thomas (of Down These Mean Streets) to our venue for the people of Brooklyn.
In March 2008, we had the honor of hosting Ernesto Quinones, author of Bodega Dreams.
These are just a few examples of our reach.. but the mic belongs to the people of NYC!
However, our visitors have come from as far out as California to perform or catch our shows..
Come see why!
We've been reaching out to all spoken word poets across the nation (established and on the rise), College students and many others we thought would like to lend support.
Join us on a Friday of every month for the stageshow-
