"It all started when I was PLACED into Kintagarden...for the second time...first..second..uh..one time anyway.." ~ JC Campbell (kidding eh.)
James "J.C." Campbell is of Cree/Ojibway and European decent. This Native Canadian Winnipeg born Singer/Songwriter's smoky pipes are reminiscent of the Bluesmen of past. J.C.'s soulful vocals ring honesty. J.C.’s humble nature adds to the intrigue, that few artists embody. Writing his own material, playing guitar and opening for artists such as Shane Yellowbird, Prairie Oyster, Mark Collie, Chris Bigford and Donny Parenteau has created a solid platform.
His debut CD "Life Up 'Til Now" was originally intended as a series of acoustic demo songs. Nine tracks were recorded in three separate unplugged studio sessions and compiled for submission to the 2005 Canadian Aboriginal Music Awards. The album was embraced their committee and garnered nominations in both the "Best Folk Acoustic Album" and "Best Country Album" categories.
The latest project "Lazy James" has 10 original tracks some of which he co-wrote with his fiance and fellow artist, Tracy Bone. This album is "a new beginning" for him in so many ways. Real love has brought J.C. new life and inspiration to "Keep On Tryin'". The songs on this project reflect his experiences on the hard road of life, realization and personal awakening.
"I would describe my music as Country Blues or Roots Rock ". ~J.C. Campbell
In 2007 good "Fortune" led him to co-write with Nashville Hit Songwriter and Chief Creative Officer of Ole' Music Publishing Gilles Godard, who has written hits for Terry Clark, Patty Loveless and Tracy Byrd to name a few.
2008 Songwriting Workshop led by the incomparable Buffy St.Marie was organized by the Aboriginal Music Program. J.C. was one of five Songwriters to be invited to share their original material.
Captivating audiences with his live performances, he has been humbly compared to Johnny Cash for the aura he radiates. J.C. Campbell music is as refreshing as it is unique.

Hey JC, long time no talk or nothing ehhh haha...the final versions of the songs sound sweeet and Im gonna try get my hands on a cd. I seen a cool review of ur CD on Uptown Mag's website...dont know if you seen it -
If you haven't heard of JC Campbell, now is the time to check him out. Lazy James is a rootsy, blues record with no shortage of grit. Campbell sings like a road-weary troubadour, and his deep, smoky pipes make him sound like he's straight outta Nashville. But it's not just his voice that makes this record a treat - the guitar work is also exceptional. The standout here is The Grind, a dirty, bluesy number which was made to be paired with a night of drinking Standard at the Times Change(d). If you're a fan of the man in black, Lazy James is worthy of a place in your collection. — Jen Zoratti
Theres a review on Tracy's cd as well as Jesse's new release.
