From the hearts and minds of The New Rap Order and The Dugout came a concept to merge the talents and power of our multi-faceted communities in order to provide opportunities for folks to present their respective art forms. We at the N.R.O and The Dugout are well known for our powerful shows, inspiring showcases, and community-based events. With Brooklyn as our stomping grounds, we decided that there was a need for an outlet where the cream of the crop from Brooklyn and beyond can come to refine and express their art. With that in mind we bring to you the Brooks Arts Festival.

title page 82-87...i'm just drawing the pictures here...the real people making this happen are the teachers who convince the school board the history of Hip-Hop is worth teaching, and sometimes pay out of their pockets to make it happen, and Benny-Factor & Shummonik for taking time out of their regular jobs and schedules to teach the youth...all the support & feedback is appreciated though!
kids illustrated history of Hip-Hop...this started out as a project with 2 member s of the Libra Project & I, Shummonick & Benny Factor. Those two had already started a program of going to underprivelaged, inner-city schools here in LA, and teaching kids the basics of Hip-Hop song writing, rapping, dancing, & making beats. They stepped to me w/ the idea of coming up w/ some sketches to be used in a 'book' for the kids to see & write a song about the history of Hip-Hop. I couldn't say no, and as ideas for it came to me, it turned into an illustrated history, comic-book style This is the 1st page...
I WOULD LOVE IT IF YOU GUYS WOULD BE IN ATTENDANCE OF THIS EVENT.. I WILL BE ROCKING A SET THERE THIS WEEKEND.... JUST LET THEM KNOW YOU CAME TO SEE BLACKBIRD AT THE DOOR
