Trumpeter Jaimie Branch and drummer Marc Riordan are an active presence on the Chicago music scene. Since meeting at the New England Conservatory of Music in 2001, they have performed together as a duo and in numerous other Chicago based ensembles including Rupert, Fly Trap, Phelt, Nick Broste Quartet, Medium Sized Rabbit, and Branch/Riordan/Sexton. Their duo music incorporates slow, introspective melodies, abstract sound-based approaches, and high density free jazz. They have been presented in a variety of contexts by organizations such as Umbrella Music (Chicago), Bowerbird (Philadelphia), and the Subconscious Cafe series in Cambridge, MA.
i loved seeing you guys play in brooklyn that night. hope to see you guys play again
and jaimie it was awesome meeting you, when you come back here let me know. maybe we can play our tubes too.
Crap-- won't be able to make it tonight... (it's about an hour and a half on the subway each way from my 'hood.) Do you guys ever play in Manhattan? (If not, I'm moving to Brooklyn in the fall, so that should make things easier...)
hey dudes and dudette!
sorry i was so lame last month. I really wish i could have caught yr set. keep me posted of next time.
I';ll be doing a few shows in chi town in dec. maybe i'll see one of u then?
Was planning to go to the show, and then fell asleep at five and stayed that way for a long time. I suck. But I'll be there next time you're playing in new york.
The music is decent, however it lacks the bossa nova groove I've come to know and love and associate with you three over the years. I recognize that you are exploring new sound worlds and it is all very interesting but I hope the bossa nova element returns in some form, and returns with a vengeance.
Yours, Jake
