| About Boris Gluck |
Washington, DC is a city that revolves around politics and lawmakers, while the rest of the world revolves around this empirical city. By day the city is consumed with politics, but by sunset, music comes afloat and the city beams towards the type of freedom that only house music can deliver.
Boris Gluck arrived on the scene in 1990 when Rap/Hip Hop was the undisputed champion of the U.S. music scene. In the face of this genre goliath he rapidly joined a small niche of listeners whose ears belonged to a different sound. The enticing sounds of the 4/4 beat delivered by a drum machine, coupled with thundering basslines and mystic vocals drew Boris in like a moth to a flame.
Growing up in Cochabamba, Bolivia, Boris was first struck by phonetic sounds called New Wave. Among his many first influences included the likes of: Pet Shop Boys, New Order, Tears for Fears, Eurorhythms, and last but not least Culture Club. It was during the late 80s when a new hybrid sound became Boriss anthem. A synesthetic blend of lyrics, lush layers of synth, and rapid beats drew Boris to the new love of his life.
Boriss first encounter with the wheels of steel came casually during a party where a friend was playing. Curiosity got the best of him, and led to the inevitable purchase of his first records. With the guidance of his friend, Boris began learning the tantalizing art of mixing, and the House genre had instantly gained another rhythmic soul.
After countless house party gigs and sleepless nights of practice, Boris landed his first real show at DCs infamous 5th Column in 1996. The clubbers of DC instantly recognized and welcomed Boris as a name that delivers euphoric nights in the district. In early 1999 DC saw the dawn of a new era in house & electronic music with the opening of GLOW at Zei club. The now legendary club influenced Boris to bend his style in new and unique ways, and inspired his current cross-genre blended style.
These days one cannot mention house music in DC without hearing the name Boris Gluck. Back fresh from playing raves in Bolivia for several months Boris was quickly recruited by club giant Five to be their latest resident DJ. With regular shows at the whos who of DC clubs including: GLOW, Eye Bar, Dragonfly, Spank, and Gazuza, Boris is quickly becoming one of the most in-demand DJs around.
Boris brings his A game to every performance and continues to stun crowds all over. With a unique style that can only be dubbed Boris Gluck, he blends slamming drums with beautifully rare cuts, intertwined by flawless mixing talent. Boriss unique ability to stay true to his own style and track selections have put him leagues above the rest. Spinning alongside DCs own Trance legend Pete Moutso, Boris has used his influences from Hernan Cattaneo, John Digweed, and Sasha to show that a house/trance venue makes for consistently unforgettable nights.
Eager to bring his sound to the world, Boris continues to fine tune his brilliant sets, taking House to the next level. 2005 is off with a bang for Boris with bookings from Seattle to Argentina and having already spun with the likes of Donald Glaude, Ashley Casselle, Pete Moutso, DJs Eva and Medusa. This ever humble artist never disappoints, and is sure to be the next big name in Dance!
