Welcome to the home of the Blue Ridge Rollergirls, Asheville, NC’s first all female, flat track roller derby league! Yes, roller derby is back! And yes, roller derby is a fast-paced, aggressive, REAL SPORT!
Founded in June of 2006, the Blue Ridge Rollergirls make up Asheville , NC 's first all-female, flat-track roller derby league. The league’s mission is to actively create, promote, and sustain an environment that fosters strength, courage, vitality, and the empowerment of women in the roller derby sport. Each member of the league shall be challenged and supported in her pursuit of personal growth in and through the sport. The league itself shall remain deeply rooted in the spirit of good sportswomanship so as to bring honor and distinction to the league, women in the sport, and roller derby as a whole.
We are a not for profit organization and will foster community outreach through support of local charities. A few chairties the league has supported and raised funds for during their home bouts include: Reach for the Skye, RAINN, and Interlace. Please research these worthy local charities and give til it hurts!
As an applicant to become an official Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA) league, the Blue Ridge Rollergirls runs itself by the association’s motto, “by the skaters, for the skaters.”
Our vision for the future includes:
· establishing more permanent roots in our community
· becoming a WFTDA member league
· fostering ongoing personal and league growth through the maintenance of a regular bouting schedule among our intra- and interleague teams
· cultivating our travel team’s growth and progress through improved skill level and increased regional and national competion
and
· facilitating growth and development of the roller derby sport through competition and fellowship with other leagues.
Many thanks to our fans who showed up in support of our 2008 season home opener at the Asheville Civic Center on Saturday, April 19th! What a great night! We hope you enjoyed yourselves as much as we did and that you'll return for our future bouts and bring even more fans! Check back soon for details on our upcoming bouts at the Asheville Civic Center.

Hey music lover, This weekend is it. It's the 30th Anniversary of the Bele Chere Festival, and THE AFROMOTIVE is happy to be playing it for the second year in a row. We're on a different stage this year- Biltmore Stage @ 6:45pm. We had an absolutely amazing crowd last year up on Battery Park, so let's do it again!
