Nick is the lead vocalist and Rhythm guitarist of Blue Origin. Influenced and inspired by the blues legends of old, Nick brings a vintage quality to the music, adding atmospheric blues fills and breaks and not forgetting his rocked up rhythms.
Nick is a Fantastic front man to the band with a powerful voice recognisable to Blue Origins music.
To quote a fan "He’s got a little devil inside of him"
Jonne is the lead guitarist and co-songwriter of the band, surrounded by a dark cloud of mystique, a wide range of Goth, pop, rock and metal acts of the last century influence his sound. Settling into the role of lead guitarist with extreme ease and comfort,
He takes the band in a completely new sonic direction, with his huge guitar sound, trademark gloomy, baritone vocals and superb song craft ability. He is very fond of drinking ‘Jagermeister’.
Tom, Blue Origins superb drummer drawing influences from all forms of modern rock a two of which are progressive metal and hard, melodic rock. Taking a classic beat, Tom turns it into his own, with stylistic fills and technical alterations. He adds a tone to drumming that is rare to the art.
He also supplies the second higher range backing vocals to the band and has a tradition of taking his shirt off at every single gig.
Dave is the pounding bassist of the band; he fills out the music with a hugely heavy attack, bass distortion and simple but very effective lines.
Taking an eternity to find a guitar strap long enough to hang over his 6’5 frame, the backbone of the music is provided by a very gentle giant with an extremely solid rhythm and technique.
Just do not make eye contact with him or he will smash out of his cage and kill you.
Blue Origin was formed in February 2005, originally starting as a four-piece Blues & Rock band.
Within a few months, the original lead guitarist left turning the band into a three piece.
The line up became Nick Pilgrim – Guitar&Vocals, Nick Burgoyne - Bass and Tom Eivers - Drums Songs such as ’Let It Go’,
’Blue Room’ and the original ’Sweet Nightmares’ were written and some home recorded, the band started to do small gigs in local pubs.
As it got deeper into the year the decision to get a second guitarist was agreed upon, this would turn the band back into a four piece and
by the end August 2005 Harry Williams joined Blue Origin on guitar bringing an ’Indie’ inspired sound to the band and changing the line up.
New songs were written with the change in sound starting to appear. As the band progressed songs such as ’Echoes’, ’Sanity’ and an Improved ’Sweet Nightmares’ were created.
The band did their first very successful gig at The Glebe in their home town of Stoke completely selling the venue out and further on in 2006 ’Dead End Night’ and ’Wall of Foundation’ were born.
Blue Origin played numerous gigs around Stoke and recorded their first rough cd in a recording studio in Derby. A few weeks later and the band were gigging again spreading further to venues such as Fat Cats and Satchmo’s in Stoke.
The end of summer 2006 marked Nick Burgoynes final gig as bassist for Blue Origin due to other commitments.
It wasn’t long until the band was back to its full line up with Rob Emery taking up the position of bass and bringing technical sound to the backbone of the band,
they became more progressive, creating upbeat, and technical songs.
Recording at Prism Recording Studios in Stoke they started to gig venues such as The Underground and out side of Stoke at the famous Cavern Club in Liverpool.
The the band progressed more and more but due to other commitments Harry and Rob ended up leaving in September 2007 after their final gig at the LRV of Staffordshire University.
Now is the beginning of something new as Blue Origin make a come back with a brand new line up and a completely new sound, the Indie has left and the darkness that was once kept inside has now been released to take this band in a whole new direction.
Blue Origin is back as a four piece with two new members John Walklate – lead guitar & backing vocals and Dave Griffiths - Bass their new sound shows a heavier, more melodic side with atmospheric blues. Blue Origin are ready to take off once again.....A New Dawn Is Coming!!!!
