Hailing from Portland, OR, BlackHeart WhiteNoise delivers a sorely needed; a downright fun and inspiring album. Halfway between garage rock and no wave, BHWN reveal a great hidden American talent. “Our Lives in Black and White” begins the album with great garage rock pop, reminiscent of the Psychedelic Furs or Primal Scream. It’s surprising to discover that BHWN have only been together since March 2006. They’re experienced musicians, this much is definitely clear; but the speedy unification of a group able to concoct such a cohesive and compelling sound is shocking. One listen to “Feel Good and Shine” and it is clear Portland has found its best new band in years. Maybe not as eccentric as their hometown’s other aspiring bands, BHWN deliver what their name ascribes; broody, garage noise rock. Intelligent lyrics, superb instrumentation, and potential hit after hit make for a refreshingly “out of nowhere” album. At the moment BlackHeart WhiteNoise are self-releasing their debut, but it would be a shame if no one comes knocking at their door.

Having formed only just earlier in 2006, the five members of Blackheart Whitenoise have come together and cut a debut within a span of just a few months. Trust me, they've come through the gates with a real album that is all rocking, progressive and textured just enough to reveal more layers with each listen. These are the characteristics found in a CD that gives way to addiction, folks.

Bent M3, the debut album from Portland's BlackHeart WhiteNoise, is
dichotomous to its core - from the band's very moniker down to track
placement. On the one hand, the band presents itself as a light
throwback to poppy Brit-rock, but at the same time comes across as
darkly ominous, looking to share artful and serious themes.

feels to make music that sounds like Mountain Dew commercials and
soundtrack action for Cameron Diaz flicks. Also if you go to this one,
show up early for locals Blackheart Whitenoise, who actually rock hard
