Influences
risk takers in all shapes and forms. Visionaries that keep moving. Humans that embrace the imperfections of others and life. People that understand the five minutes from now could be completely different or not, but leave the space open for that possibility. Authenticity in it's many guises. People who know how to spell.
The Black Dog is pleased to be hosting the Block Party In Lowertown on Sunday, August 31st and Monday, September 1st (Labor Day). This event will coincide with the start of the Republican National Convention and all of the hullabaloo that entails. Estimates call for around 10,000 delagates, 15,000 press and media, and god knows how may protestors and such! We have just one thing to say..."Welcome to the Neighborhood!"
We intend for the Block Party In Lowertown to be an entertaining diversion,
and a celebration of peace, sanity, and just plain old "getting along with the neighbors."
We are hoping that many of these visitors coming to Saint Paul for the convention (with, or without, credentials...you won't need no stinkin' badges) find their way to our friendly little corner. We're planning music, food, fun, and a festive atmosphere. This is a family friendly event intended to appeal to a diverse audience with a little something for everyone. And EVERYONE is "welcome to the neighborhood." Civilized behavior expected! (We want your grandparents and/or grandchildren to be proud of you!).
We are planning 2 days of music beginning on Sunday, August 31st and continuing through Monday, September 1st (Labor Day).
The Black Dog will be hosting the event, providing the stage, sound system, porta-potties and other necessities. You can help us! You know you want to. By making a tax deductible contribution (as large, or as small, as you can) to defray musician's expenses for travel, housing, etc., or by buying some really cool commemorative T-shirts (available soon), you can be a part of something bigger than ourselves as individuals.
Confirmed music line-up:
Carnage, Desdemona, Junkyard Empire, Kill the Vultures, The Brass Messengers, The Rude Machanical Orchestra, M.anifest, The Back Street Boogie Band, Big Quarters..and more to come as bookings are finalized.
WARNING: SHAMELESS APPEAL FORTHCOMING. The more musician expense money we can raise, the more TRAVEL expenses we can pay. We're just saying...
Many musicians are donating their time and energies to this event. Lots of our neighbors are vollunteering their labor. Donations received will be used exclusively to defray musicians expenses. Any surplus remaining after these expenses will be split equally among the musicians.
Lets lead by example!

Black Dog, how I miss thee! I live only a mere 50 or 60 feet away from a wonderful environment, yet I am so damned busy I rarely frequent this establishment. I shall stop down for breakfast on Sunday. ;)
Thank you for the add. Your est. is one of the things I miss most about Saint' Paul, especially Lowertown. I lived there for nearly five years (The Cosmo).
Hey Black Dog, how long do I gotts ta work there before I get any love on the top friends spot? Cuz I ain't seen any of those people clean the dump sink once. : )
Have a great week! Hope you can tune in to the show this Sunday! If you have any requests or comments please feel free to leave us a voice comment on our profile so we can play it on the air.
