   About Bill Ackerbauer
I’m a writer, editor, teacher, parent and musician from Johnstown, N.Y., a small city in the foothills of the Adirondacks.

As a solo act, I mainly play acoustic guitar and harmonica, with a little banjo, mandolin, fiddle, etc., thrown in for variety. My repertoire includes hundreds of traditional and contemporary songs in the roots-music genres of folk, vintage blues, bluegrass, early country, maritime and Irish drinking songs -- and original songs stemming from these traditions.

Samples of my music are available here or at my homepage: Smokin’ Bill’s Digital Depot

For bookings, call 210-6181 or e-mail me at smokinbill(at)aol.com.

thanks bill----if a word could feel neglected and under-appreciated, I'm sure "gusto" would----it's probably a good thing we're using it....glad you like the tune----I really like your stuff....that old fingerstyle blues is really my favorite kind of guitar approach....I don't know enough about it but I love it...try to catch one of your gigs soon......hope all's well...

Cool, man. I felt that Bahamian feel when I listened to it and it sort of creeped into my playing of the song. Glad you enjoyed it. I'll have to hit up the website because I haven't heard it yet. Thanks again!

Love the new music. There's a great recording of Clarence Ashley doing Coo Coo on the Anthology of American American Folk Music (3-A 1926-1933). Check it out if you haven't. Keep me up to speed about when/where you're playing. I have a touch more free time these days until summer.

Nice work tonight at Fulton Books! Sorry we had to leave a little early. Stephanie has to get up early in the morning. Anyway, I really enjoyed hearing those old time songs. We would not be doing what we do today if not for those songwriters.
