This Tarheel combo emerges from the ashes of psych-popsters Laburnum and, on its Mitch Easter-produced debut, goes for the grand gestures without fearing the proverbial pratfall. The U2-worthy nerviness pays off: "Addiction" sounds triumphant, like the closing-credits them of a beating-the-odds teen movie, a shimmering slice of reverby guitars and baroque piano that gradually rockets into anthemic orbit. No small credit is due to Kate Gregory, who could show Liz Phair a thing or two about passion. The other two songs, alternately shoegazey and trancey, are just as cinematic. Bellglide is North Carolina's most radio-ready newcomer in years.

The New Familiars	Oct 13 2007 7:06 PM Howdy, The 2nd annual Halloween Hootenany at The Neighborhood Theatre here in Charlotte, NC is around the corner and we wanted to personally invite you to the celebration. This year, the party will kick off at 8pm with Paleface of Just About To Burn. You may have heard him on the past two Avett Brothers albums. The New Familiars are on 2nd and will be bringing their rowdy folk-core music style with some surprises mixed in. Langhorne Slim will headline the evening. This will be the first US date he and the War Eagles will be doing after their European tour. It's going to be a fun night. There will be a costume contest with a cash prize and a one year pass to the theatre. So don't miss out on the fun this Halloween night (10/31). Doors will open at 7pm and the show starts at 8pm.
