Behelmod's unique sound and style was born in 2000 and embodied the influences of many great bands ranging from Slayer, Iron Maiden, early Metallica Death,and Cannible Corpse to the darker and Melodic styles of Immortal, Marduk, Mayhem ,gorgoroth and Dark Funeral Wanting something new they decided to cross these vastly differing genres by using American death metal guitar known for the raw power of its chunking riffs that seamlessly transition to thrashing grooves and crossbreed it with with europes more melodic guitar work , maxed out reverb settings and supporting harmonic riffs then came the question of the vocals this was solved by adding the low growling vocals made famous by such acts as "cannible corpse","decide" and 'Morbid Angel" and interspersing them
with the piercing screams and high pitched vocals made famous in swedish and norwegian Black-metal ,they recognized that though this idea of a "Black/death metal" cross was being developed most skillfully by such groups as "Aeon", "Dies Irae" "Naglfar"(swe) and "Behemoth" eventually placing them at the top of europes emerging Black..death genre . "BEHELMOD" hoping to breathe new life into the U.S metal scene which was/is suffocating from lack of diversity Pounced at the opportunity to be one of the pioneering bands who would help shape the new genre Resolute they set off down a dark path with no map but by continually tweaking and refining their music , learning themselves as it grew, though its evolution seems unending "Behelmod" and those like them while continuing the work that had begun in Norway and Sweden , helped bring this new sound eventually termed as Blackend-Death Metal to the states and aided in creating an american sub-genre from it Melodic Blackend-Death Metal Behelmod lyrics tell of powers gained with Dark rituals held in secret and of the knowledge gifted from necromantic rites practiced with fervor to speed the degrading morals of society and corruption of religions and bring inevitable destruction that accompanies the rise of the old Gods as they reclaim what the catholic church tried steal then to erase with murder done in the name of their god and by forcing their religion on those who survived all lyrics are written by the singer and bass player admitted Satanists by lifestyle only They're ardent Pagans who worship as the ancient sumerians once did thousands of years before the advent of the christian god they have a very unique and vastly darker view on the world which is reflected in their lyrics enjoy!!
