Tonight I watched you throw your entire being into your performance, which was far more than a performance. It was an experience. You allowed the audience to learn, understand, feel, think and enjoy on so many different levels because you threw your whole self in. You held nothing back. You gave us your energy, your knowledge, your experiences, your joys, your challenges, your love, your dance, your poetry, your wisdom, your heart, soul and spirit. You were out loud! You were silent OUT LOUD, you spoke OUT LOUD, you danced OUT LOUD, you smiled OUT LOUD, you Moved OUT LOUD, you moved from the inside out with such a spirit of love, peace and grace. You move from a place of freedom. What a beautiful soul. What a free soul to be able to BE Out loud! Tonight I have been moved to BE out loud. Everything I do, I plan to do OUT LOUD, even if it’s just out loud within…I’m going to throw my entire being into my life, holding nothing back. Marc, you being free has helped to set me free. You don’t know your bound until you see where you are not free. Thank you for living out loud.
Whats good, hope all is well, im trying to get my folks to know about my release of my new record , hoping to spread my music out to people i think might dig it …i appreciate any support ....One Love Sellassie
if exploding multiple positionalities by doing a headspin and an uprock on the spectrum of privilege and oppression within the context of one self in the process of self-realization, de-constructing cultural myths and tired platitudes wide open and creating space to believe and give honor and reconnect and trust the ancestors and the all-knowing unknown was the cutting edge...I think you would be channeling the knife of Baba Ogun (Adupe Baba!) and slicing it all up like the Original Rock Steady Crew!
B. loved the show. 5 stars. naw. the universe. 5 stars ain't nary enough to reflect the hotness and the brilliance of the breaks.
absolutely loved it. community healing process revealing itself in ritual action. confronting the complexes that got us here, a b-boy battle with collective consciousness, racism, misogyny, classism, politics of self-expression and institutionalized art, personal imperfection, invisibility and representation, quintessential U.S. privilege and complacency abroad--and concomitant archetypes of constriction--a reimagining of the definition of freedom, a remix of multiple perspectives on what it means to be black and beautiful; to be loved and to love unconditionally; and to be (sub)versive and revolutionary through the love and the vision of change that is hip hop. all at the same time. a liberation from the dis-embodied othering of our selves and a re-envisioning of the inheritance we teach our children through the beat, the breaks, and the medium through which we choose to tell the truth- hip hop.
Thank you for the add. I really enjoyed the show in Charleston last week. It was truly eye opening.
I was thinking about your Jay-Z cringeworthy moment. What you have found out about yourself, becoming aware of the struggles in your life and then realizing the positive ways to change them are much more worthy then having a 40/40 club, your own brand of vodka, or Beyonce as your wife. I don't think Jay Z would ever see life past making a capital venture off of it.
