This solo project of Athens, GA, band Macha's frontman Josh McKay veers from the dulcimers and doldrums of the East, instead moving to oddball ambience.
The 2002 debut The Ride features a chance guest appearance by Haco, a member of After Dinner, who sings over "The Day." The menacing waves, piano, and McKay's soft, alienated voice chart the disintegration of a love affair, recalling the texture of Labradford with the emotional weight of Low. In March of 2002, McKay toured with fellow slowcore artists the New Year and Pedro the Lion. ~ Daphne Carr
