"For those who believe in God, most of the big questions are answered. But for those of us who can't readily accept the God formula, the big answers don't remain stone-written. We adjust to new conditions and discoveries. We are pliable. Love need not be a command or faith a dictum. I am my own God. We are here to unlearn the teachings of the church, state, and our educational system. We are here to drink beer. We are here to kill war. We are here to laugh at the odds and live our lives so well that Death will tremble to take us." ~Charles Bukowski (1920 - 1994)
Art, music, and books are three of my favorite things to enjoy. I also appreciate a tasty glass of wine, a pint of good beer and a well brewed cup of coffee (blame two and a half years working for Starbucks for that one). My friends and family are top on my priority list, and my relationships are all a part of who I am today. When I am home alone, my secret weakness is re-runs of Friends.
You Are Bert
Extremely serious and a little eccentric, people find you loveable - even if you don't love them!
You are usually feeling: Logical - you rarely let your emotions rule you
You are famous for: Being smart, a total neat freak, and maybe just a little evil
How you life your life: With passion, even if your odd passions (like bottle caps and pigeons) are baffling to others
"There's the country of America, which you have to defend, but there's also the idea of America. America is more than just a country, it's an idea. An idea that's supposed to be contagious." Bono (1960-)
I like to listen to all kinds of music, and can lip sync a very large chunk of that. I will listen to jazz, top-40, classical, classic rock, alternative, country... the list could go on forever. I have learned a lot lately about Neil Young, The Grateful Dead, and CSNY from my husband... and we love to collect vinyl!
"Nothing is permanent in this wicked world - not even our troubles." ~Charlie Chaplin (1889 - 1977)
Like music, I like all different types of movies, but in my personal collection I have some top favorites. One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest and Say Anything are probably near the top of the list. I love the classic John Hughes, anything with Adam Sandler, and my classic Muppets collection is getting bigger, too! One of the most influential and intellectual movies in my collection is Mind Walk.

Television
"It is difficult to produce a television documentary that is both incisive and probing when every twelve minutes one is interrupted by twelve dancing rabbits singing about toilet paper." ~Rod Serling (1924 - 1975)
Medium; Heroes; The Big Bang Theory; How I Met Your Mother; Ghost Whisperer; and ER.
"The man who doesn't read good books has no advantage over the man who can't read them." ~Mark Twain (1835 - 1910)
Lately I've been obsessed with reading. The books seem to pour through my hands and head, and I have been learning so many new things that I only want to keep going. The spirituality in a book seems to be just as important as the story or the characters. In 2008 I have had the pleasure of a few very amazing stories: Eat, Pray, Love; A Yellow Raft In Blue Water; The Alchemist; Love in the Time of Cholera (amazing, by the way); and even The Odd Thomas series, which are three very good Dean Koontz brain candy books about a man named Odd Thomas. He's supernatural... Wow, I'm a geek.
A few other books that are classic in my estimation are Still Life With Woodpecker and Jitterbug Perfume by Tom Robbins (really anything by Tom Robbins), Memnoch the Devil by Anne Rice (a twisted and interesting vision of Heaven and Hell), and Captivating by John and Staci Eldredge (Girl Power). Pick up a book once in a while. You might just learn something about the world, and you just might learn something about yourself.

"Life is either a daring adventure or nothing. Security does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it. Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than exposure."
Helen Keller (1880 - 1968)
Heroes
"History, despite its wrenching pain, cannot be unlived, however, if faced with courage, need not be lived again." ~Maya Angelou (1928 - )
My parents are both my heroes for bringing me into this world, and my husband for being so wonderful every day. There are so many people that surround me, people who inspire me in small and large ways every day, that I feel lucky to be me.

..Healing..
By Angie Bachara
(ACL 2002)
Everything that surrounded the pool
was reflected silently and exactly.
It was hard to tell where the land ended
and the water began as the lines between sky,
mountain, tree, and water were smudged
as if by the hand of heaven.
Though scarred by a long remembered fire,
the slow process of healing had already begun,
and I witnessed how each helped the other
to remember what once was.
There were even a few brave trees,
so thirsty for a cool drink,
standing stoically in knee-deep water.
The fish and frogs were thankful
for those patient wading trees,
protected by their shade cast on the lake.
The lonely woodpecker called to us
that despite this charred landscape
he was making his home, to wait
for the healing to be finished.**

As far as we can discern, the sole purpose of human existence is to kindle a light in the darkness of mere being."

"It's pretty clear now that what looked like it might have been some kind of counterculture is, in reality, just the plain old chaos of undifferentiated weirdness." ~Jerry Garcia (1942 - 1995)
After several years in college, I have become a writer. I used to be an Ad Copywriter, but I am now a Print Coordinator. I call myself a word geek, because my passion is writing and editing.
Time flies fast when you're having fun, and when I am not writing something, I am out living a life worth writing about. I love to travel and explore, and in my native state of Oregon, USA, I can't help but find fun and adventure. I also love friends and family, hanging out, laughing, and having fun. I'm married and we have a cutie pie puppy dog, Buddy and a sweetheart Kittens: Lily, Max, and Grey Paws.
"The purpose of a fish trap is to catch fish, and when the fish are caught, the trap is forgotten. The purpose of a rabbit snare is to catch rabbits. When the rabbits are caught, the snare is forgotten. The purpose of words is to convey ideas. When the ideas are grasped, the words are forgotten. Where can I find a man who has forgotten words? He is the one I would like to talk to." ~Chuang Tzu
There are so many people that I would like to meet. My dream dinner soiree would include Oprah Winfrey, Madonna, Alice Walker, Tom Robbins, John Saul, Anne Rice, and if I could bring him back Martin Luther King, Jr. These are some artists and writers that I admire and have been influenced by in my life. If my husband was partying with me, we'd probably bring Jerry Garcia back, too.
