"Question with boldness even the existence of God; because if there be one, He must approve the homage of Reason rather than that of blindfolded Fear." -- Thomas Jefferson

Audio Buddha is a trinity of musicians who work together with the
collective intention of immersing in and exploring the medium of music to
access the divine and embody it in performance. Weaving together the
elements of synthesized trance music, violin and voice, a tapestry of
sound emerges that is dynamic, unique and profound. The music ranges from driving trance to melodic ambient, creating the space for all things to emerge.
Though the project of audio buddha has been active for five years through
the work of founding member steve brisk, the present incarnation of
keyboardist Brisk, violinist Nathaniel Mahlberg and vocalist Ishtar is new
within the year. Ishtar is a classically trained vocalist who found a
dear friend and deep reflection in the companionship of Steve Brisk, a
self-proclaimed "old-school punk" with extensive classical training of his
own. Nathaniel Mahlberg is a classically trained violinist who offered
his brilliance to the project, completing the perfect triad. This new
group presents Audio Buddha, tranceformative musical experience, as our
pleasure and our gift.
Statement of Intent:
Art is a life process - there is no fragmentation between the different states or manifestations of art, they are UNI-versal, of one. If art is a response to stimulated emotion or energy, then painting leads to music leads to word leads to lovemaking leads to dance - a life cycle, not a food chain. music is a form of love - music is a way of lovemaking. To make material into rhythm, to make flesh into song, to bring bones into dance, this is to finally finally be free of a fight with time and fly in ecstatic catastrophe, in euphoric euphony, to fly, fly, fly through our moments together. We seek the sensitivity to transduce the transcendent. from the eternal within there emanates a pulsation of life that seeks to transcend the limitations of linearity and move into fusion with divine absolute. Therein lies the alchemical potential, the joy inherent in engaging in the musical aspect of existence and the drive to offer the gift that will potentially enliven people out of the trap of mentality into full spectrum expression and experience of being. Every animal has its particular prayer, and this is ours.
