PICK UP THE DEBUT ALBUM, "AGAIN, TOO SOON", AT WWW.ATLANTISQUARTET.COM TODAY!!!
Atlantis Quartet formed in October 2006 and has become one of the Twin Cities' premier voices in modern creative jazz. Dwight Hobbes of Pulse of the Twin Cities credits Atlantis Quartet with "strong compositions and insanely serious chops" while the Dakota Jazz Club refers to the band as "one of the best young jazz groups in the cities".
In its relatively short existence, the quartet has performed many of the area's top jazz venues, including the Dakota, Times Bar & Cafe, Rossi's Blue Star Room, Clown Lounge, and the Nomad Jazz Series, and has toured through Illinois and Missouri. Atlantis Quartet pushes the boundaries of genre by bringing its lively modern jazz sound into rock clubs as well, such as the 331 Club, Uptown Bar and Bunkers.
August 2007 marked the release of Atlantis Quartet's debut album, Again, Too Soon, at the Dakota Jazz Club, and the disc is already selling hundreds of copies and garnering rave reviews, including an article in the Spring 2008 issue of Jazz Improv Magazine which credits the Atlantis Quartet as "highly skilled musicians who have invested themselves heavily to develop their individual approaches...together, they sound genuinely inspired." The album is a collection of eight original compositions recorded last spring at Fur Seal Studio in Minneapolis, MN. You can pick up the album through itunes, CD Baby, www.myspace.com/atlantisquartet and at www.atlantisquartet.com where you can also find out more information on the group and its performance dates.
