We're a group of local artists
we attend local festivals and fairs together as vendors and also hold our own sales events.
we also want to start having mini-art classes at our get togethers.
All are welcome to join us for our meetings. We hold an Artist Bartering during our gatherings and you are encouraged to bring any finished goods or art supplies to trade. Some examples of what to bring:
fabric, vintage sheets, paint, hand knit scarves, broken jewelry- you never know what someone could use! This is also a good reason to invite a friend who loves hand crafted goods but is not so handy with a needle and thread themselves.
The bartering benefits our artists two ways; the first, and obvious, is to provide a resource for acquiring supplies. Secondly, by trading finished goods each artist gets their work "out there". Trading someone a necklace that will be used as a gift can be great exposure.
During the meetings we plan for sales events and draw together our resources to guide each other along. We meet on the second floor of Visible Voice Books, which is a great place to find new and used literature.
Who I'd like to meet: artists of all kinds! the more varied our group, the better the booty from the barter.
