At some point, you’ve got to find the limits of what you can do in a rock show
Muse have admitted that their current stage production for their ‘Simulation Theory‘ world tour might finally be a step “too far”.
The band are renowned for their increasingly adventurous live shows, with their current tour featuring dancers, a BMX stuntsman, a brass band, lasers, huge screens and even a giant alien robot.
However, it seems now the band feel that they have pushed the boundaries on what’s possible as feel as they’ll go.
“Robots do appear at some point in the show, and, you know, they’re pretty threatening,” frontman Matt Bellamy told the Miami New Times. “I didn’t think we could go this far, but we’ve finally gone too far.
“At some point, you’ve got to find the limits of what you can do in a rock show. It feels like no one else is doing that in the world of guitar music. It feels pretty unique at the moment.”
Drummer Dom Howard also questioned what extremes they’d have to go to in order to up their game next time.
“That’s the thing — it’s becoming unsustainable,” said Howard. “This is very much about the spectacle, this tour, but the antithesis would be to do something that’s purely about the music and nothing else, which is most likely what we’ll do in the future. At this stage, I don’t know.
“It’s either back down to Earth or straight into space.”
The band recently announced that Rage Against The Machine and Audioslave legend Tom Morello would be supporting them on their upcoming UK tour dates.

Saturday June 1, 2019 – LONDON Stadium Olympic Park
Wednesday June 5, 2019 – BRISTOL Ashton Gate Stadium
Saturday June 8, 2019 – MANCHESTER Manchester Etihad Stadium
