Beloved singer-songwriter Paul Simon announced his farewell tour Monday.

With Homeward Bound — The Farewell Tour, the 76-year-old legend will tour North American venues this May and June before heading overseas for a final stint of European dates in July.

“I’ve often wondered what it would feel like to reach the point where I’d consider bringing my performing career to a natural end,” Simon said in a press release. “Now I know: It feels a little unsettling, a touch exhilarating and something of a relief. I love making music, my voice is still strong, and my band is a tight, extraordinary group of gifted musicians. I think about music constantly. I am very grateful for a fulfilling career and, of course, most of all to the audiences who heard something in my music that touched their hearts.”

As half of Simon & Garfunkel and then in his multi-decade solo career, Simon has produced some of rock and folk’s most enduring music. He’s received 16 Grammy Awards — including Album of the Year honors for Bridge Over Troubled Water, Still Crazy After All These Years, and Graceland — and the Recording Academy recognized him with a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2003. He’s also a member of the Songwriters Hall of Fame and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

And through all the decades, Simon has remained a vital artistic voice. His 13th solo album, Stranger to Stranger, ranked 23rd on EW’s best albums of 2016. That year, Simon embarked on a two-month North American tour that marked his first run of dates since 2011. The stint included New York dates; the Homeward Bound tour notably does not.

Simon is the latest in a spate of revered artists to announce farewell tours. In January, Elton John, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and Slayer all shared plans to hang it up after final strings of shows.
