The singer believes the National Anthem has a racist history.

John Legend supports NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick's decision to not stand during the National Anthem.

In fact, he's willing to go even further: the ten-time Grammy winner called the "Star Spangled Banner" a "weak song" on Twitter. He then linked to a story on The Intercept that notes the racial history of our National Anthem.

In response to a fan noting that Kapernick's boycotting wasn't about the lyrics, Legend further explained his interpretation of the NFL star's decision.

As Legend notes, he prefers "America the Beautiful." Listen to his rendition of the song from the 2015 Super Bowl below.
