Played by dreamy dreamboat Paul Rudd, Ant-Man brings us the tale of protagonist Scott Lang, a reformed thief and electronic expert who gains the ability to shrink (while retaining superhuman strength) and control the insect population.
But Lang wasn't always Ant-Man. Biologist Dr. Henry "Hank" Pym (Michael Douglas) first decided to take on the superhero persona after discovering a chemical substance—Pym Particles—that allowed anyone exposed to alter their size. Pym then decided to arm himself with a helmet that could control ants and, well, solve mysteries.
Enter Lang, who breaks into Pym's home to try to save his ailing daughter from a heart condition. Lang steals Pym's Ant-Man suit but is actually encouraged to continue the Ant-Man legacy after the Doctor learns of Lang's dilemma.
Ant-Man is out in theaters July 17.
