The hip-hop veteran says the two "suburban" rappers are helping the genre grow.
In this week's New York Times Magazine, Snoop Dogg stops in for a brief Q&A addressing his funk-inspired new album, his parenting style (in short: tough), his thoughts on the current social unrest in Baltimore, and finally: Iggy Azalea and Macklemore.
It's what the Times refers to as "this suburban streak in hip-hop," and surprisingly (maybe?), Snoop doesn't seem to mind it at all.
"Rap is supposed to grow," Snoop shares. "One thing about Iggy and Macklemore: They got soul. They’re inspired by hip-hop. I don’t care how you’re gonna take it to your people and flip it and dip it and serve it."
