S-N-double-O-P says he watches the happenings of Westeros for "historic reasons."

In an interview with the New York Post, a reporter asked Snoop Dogg about his thoughts on HBO's Game of Thrones: Does he watch? Is he a fan? The answer is yes to both—but his explanation as to why he watches the show is what's really interesting here: “I watch it for historic reasons, to try to understand what this world was based on before I got here.”

In fact, Snoop says he sees the show as a learning experience, stating that “I like to know how we got from there, to here, and the similarities between then and now.”

The Post then asked Snoop to elaborate on those similarities: "King still rule," Snoop replied.

...Although, okay, it's true that the wars, blood and gore of Westeros is loosely based on historic fact, the keyword here is loosely. In 1377, medieval England saw the War of the Roses, where two noble families battled fluctuating loyalties and each other. But still: Martin has definitely spiced things up a bit with all the White Walkers (aka ice zombies), somewhat-but-not-really loyal dragons, malicious teenage kings and boobies and all that.
